This all reminds me of a funny story . . . . I call it "blue blazer day".
I worked in an office and there were two other men in the same office with me. At the end of one work day, John was the first to leave to go home. A little while later Mike, who was in a car-pool left to go home also...
Was it the waterproofness of the Osprey backpack, or were the patches you applied with glue all "iron-on" patches? I glued three patches onto my Osprey Kestrel and the two that were "iron-on" came off, but the one that wasn't "iron-on" is still holding fast.
And one other question, totally unrelated to anything else in this thread. I have noticed in recent pictures that the towers at the front of Santiago Cathedral are cover for cleaning or refurbishment or something. When is that work scheduled to be done and the towers uncovered? I'll also be...
Thanks everyone. That is all VERY helpful.
One other question for Ivar. When I mail these things to you for you to hold until I arrive in Santiago, where do I get a box to put them in? Will the Correo have them, or should I get one in a store somewhere first?
Thanks.
In June my nephew and I will be walking from Leon to Santiago. After that, we will then be touring around Europe for another couple of weeks. We will be bringing some items appropriate for the Camino and some other items more appropriate for backpacking around Europe. We will mail the items...
How fortuitous, I'm packing my backpack because I'm leaving tomorrow for the Camino. I have a small umbrella that I'll pack. We'll see if I use it, or "lose it".
I have an Osprey Kestrel backpack also (green). Did you sew or glue that patch onto that portion of your pack??? I didn't think you could attach it to a "stretchy" part!!! Let me know please. You may have solved one of my problems with getting all of my patches on that I want to attach.
I purchased a Kestrel 48 (s/m). Looking forward to doing a little training with it over the next couple of months. When I walked the Camino Portuguese in 2012, I had a High Sierra bag I got on sale. I developed a dislike for it before reaching Santiago.
Does anyone have any experience...
I use packing cubes. I use them for non-backpacking travel, so when I walked the Camino Portuguese last September, I used them, and found them invaluable.

I used a medium sized one for shirts, another for pants, and a smaller one for...
Just completed my first camino and my first backpacking/trekking trip ever. Followed Falcon's advice and had NO blistering problems or any foot problems at all.
Thanks Falcon.
Just completed my first Camino (Camino Portuguese), which is also my first backpacking trip. My "must have" item(s) were the packing cubes I bought from ebags.

I use these when I travel normally (not backpacking) and they proved just as...
