Right quad pain, ok to push through or something to be worried about?

It does surprise me when people ask advice here on the Forum about a musculoskeletal problem. I'm a physiotherapist but rarely give my opinion without first examining someone. There could be a number of reasons for your complaint. My advise as others have said is to see a professional. Hope...

How to decide how long to walk for

Two weeks would be the minimum for me but if I can swing it I prefer at least 3 weeks. I tend to walk long stages and walk fairly fast so I can cover quite some distance in 3-4 weeks. One year I was away for almost 6 weeks combining 2 Caminos and that was a bit too long for my liking. Since then...

Norte Mountain Route - Soto to Cadevedo

It's a great route if you don't mind some tough patches and walking it alone but I did it summer 2022 so the information is not current. The hospitalero at the municipal albergue tells everyone, every year, to take the coastal route. I personally would not take it if raining.

LIVE from the Camino Luka on the Sanabrés

Buen Camino Luka! Look forward to hearing about your walk. I'll be back on the Plata/Sanabrés at the end of June after 10 years! It will be interesting to see if there have been any changes.

standard of living/quality of life in Spain

True. I've been living in The Netherlands for the past 30 years and have also lived in Paris, Geneva and Luxembourg so half of my life I've lived in Europe and the first half in the U.S. Work/life balance I have found to be much more healthy in Europe. One's health care and education do not...

Has the dog “policy” on the Camino changed?

That reminds me of a café on a small plaza in Sahagún. I asked the owner if my dog was allowed in and he replied, "no problem, dogs behave better than most humans". At times in the boot room (in the old days in the muni in Nájara) or in a sheltered space outside. If your dog is a house dog...

3 languages on VdlP stone pillars

Ladino also came to my mind but I just read that it's Hebrew.

All trains are full on Renfe (around May 3-7, 2024)

Sorry if I was not clear. I meant that via Blabla car a private person picked me up at the train station in Vigo as I was coming in by train. I had exhausted all other possibilities (airport from Santiago, A Coruña and Vigo and all bus routes from anywhere in the vicinity of Santiago) before...

    The king’s breadmaker

Doesn't she already have the record for the greatest number of times she has walked the Invierno? Or at least the American record?

    The king’s breadmaker

Correct! I had difficulty finding it when I left in the early morning last July (it's kind of hiding around an ally) but a neighbor yelled up to the owner, she looked out her bedroom window and opened up for me. I carried the bread all the way to Silleda where I ate it with olive oil and salt...

All trains are full on Renfe (around May 3-7, 2024)

I had the same problem one year, neither from the airports in Santiago or Vigo could I get a flight. Since I had to get back to Madrid Airport by a certain time I used BlaBla car for the first time. I first had to catch a train to the Vigo train station where I was picked up. I was dropped off...

LIVE from the Camino They are recommending the Valcarlos route tomorrow, how foolish would it be to go Napoleon?

I disagree. My first trip over the Pyrenees, in July I might add, was completely clouded over and misty. I've no idea how many feet ahead of me were visible but I realized then and there the importance of those polls with an emergency telephone number. Luckily by the time I reached the top I got...

    Bed race on the VDLP…

But as I said there is a donativo in Salamanca. The first night you could stay there and the second night in the other place. If you're taking the Sanabrés there is also a great donativo in Tábara.

    Bed race on the VDLP…

I've walked the Plata twice and parts a third time and although I never had an issue finding a bed (July and February) I did hear that April is or at least was the busiest month in the year as most northern Europeans prefer walking in cooler temperatures. I hope that you have now gotten out of...

The Valle del Silencio as Invierno prelude

Lucky you! All options sound great. Unfortunately Valle de Silencio didn't work out when we started out together 8 (?) years ago.

LIVE from the Camino The old man and his shop in Castrojeriz is alive and kickin’!

No way! I can't believe he's still alive! I had a long chat with him November 2018 while buying a pair of gloves. He told me then that no one in his family wanted to take over the store. I believe that I first met him years before that but I can't remember when. May he continue to be healthy...

Lost & Found LOST (Now found!) PACER POLES BEFORE CEA

That's a b*tch! In 2014 I left my poles in a hostal in Cordoba and realized it about an hour into my walk. I immediately turned around and they were waiting for me against the wall near the front door. Mine were cheap Decathlon poles but since my first Camino I can't do without. I sure hope...
