With a group that size a big part of planning will involve training and assessing how far each person is able to walk each day. If you want to all stay together I recommend stages that the person who can walk the least far can handle.

You can learn to pronounce it, but as soon as you say "soy estadounidense" wait two seconds for someone to say "ah, American." 😉
PS break it down into syllables and it will soon be rolling off your tongue.
And it might be easier to say "soy de Estados Unidos."

I highly recommend stopping in Lires between Muxía and Finisterre - it makes for a much more relaxing final Camino walk.

Easier and quicker than Finisterre or Muxía - only a half hour by train.
It's a much bigger city than Santiago, but the old town is compact, and there's quite a bit to do there...
Rather than go to the REI store you can order a variety of options from them and then just make one trip to return those that don't work out - and you'll have s year to do it.
