Wondering whether the Via de la Plata is our next camino ....?

We have watched Rolf, Rob's and Efren's VLOGs on the VDLP over the last few weeks and have found each useful in their differing perspectives. This Camino is definitely on our bucket list.

"The Way, My Way" in Darwin

We saw the movie in Wellington NZ. Its a good authentic look at the Camino from Bill Bennett's perspective. We really enjoyed it and its inspired us to start planning for our next one, maybe the VDLP.

Alternative route to Santo Domingo de la Calzada?

I sympathise with your feelings as it was one of the low points for us on the Camino Frances but I agree with Tincatinker, you could be jumping out of the frying pan into the fire. Better to avoid the highways if you can.

    HELP! (Shoe advice) April 2020

If you weren't walking the Camino in March and still had time to trial other options I would recommend Salomon. They are a quite an exceptional shoe with all the key characteristics you need in a reliable hiking shoe: sturdy, good ankle support, great grip, shock absorbing etc. I have worn this...

    Recommended shoe size

If you're walking in Summer or hot conditions your feet will overheat and you'll get blisters. If you walk when there is likely to be heavy rain your feet will get wet anyway and this can cause friction and blisters as well. We walked in September/October and experienced both conditions and...

    Recommended shoe size

My partner and I wore walking shoes (Salomon X Ultra 3) a size larger then our usual size and we didn't experience any blisters. This is recommended by most sport shoe specialist I have come across in New Zealand. The reason is that the larger size accommodates swelling as you noted which is...

    Messed up my timings...

I just had dinner out in Wellington with previous and future Camino Frances pilgrims and our consistent advice to those about to do it was stop in Orisson on Day 1. The reason: the camaraderie established at the pilgrims dinner sets you up for the rest of the Camino. Some of the people we met...
