I saw that too, the Mirador de Catalina looks amazing, and its not a long day from Cades to Cicera.... Hopefully I will have enough energy left to do the climb!!!! Thanks
Hi I plan to stay in Cicera in April while doing the Camino Lebaneigo. I have been getting conflicting reports about whether or not there is a bar there were you can get an evening meal. I'm pretty sure there was a bar doing food, but it may be closed now...... If any one is passing you might...
albergue San Nicolas in Larasona. One of the best Albergues we stayed in. There is a super shop across the street were the owner has a barbecue going and folks can cook what they buy in the shop... with a great seating area to enjoy any beverages bought in the shop too. It was great few hours....
Glad you found my post useful. You brought me back to those wonderful days in April. If you are in Santillana tonight you have earned yourself a good rest!! Buen Camino
No worries, I will address your questions in reverse if thats okay?
We had no problems crossing the railway bridge. In fact we got a wave and a friendly toot from one of the train drivers as the train passed us going in the opposite direction. We stopped for a very enjoyable meal in the...

This post is aimed at those people who have decided to do the Norte, but for some reason or another are thinking of skipping the week in the Basque country. Pictures speak louder than words. The pictures below (there are quite a few) are a fair reflection of what is to be expected in terms of...
That is simply my opinion.
My opinion is born out of the following experience. There is a very fine restaurant on the route called Restaurant San Martin about 1km before Orio. It is right beside of a very old church with the same name. Its not Michelin star, but it is pretty close. The food and...
IMHO however I think you are missing the point of being a pilgrim if you are eating in Michelin Star restaurants. Its in the humble bars and restaurants you will find the pilgrims with their backpacks, dusty boots and sweaty clothes. They will be watching the regular folks doing regular things...
1 hour north of Dublin - Its an easy drive up the motorway - you can explore on of the most beautiful corners of ireland. Base yourself in Carlingford and explore Carlingford Lough a narrow fiord like body of water. You have the Cooley mountains on the south shore, and the Mournes Mountains to...
No worries Laurie. I Will be happy to share my experiences (and GPS route) with you. All going well I will leave from the albergue in Güemes, and finish with a dip in the sea at Posada La Morena, having followed the coastal route that Dave outlined. The following day I'd like to make it to...
Hi Dave.
I intend to take this route out of Santander and stay in Posada La Morena on April 20th next month. Its costing 60 euro for two of us in a twin room, and it looks like a really nice place to put your head down the night.
I will get back on the Camino route at Boo. I think it possible...

A word of warning about this bus....I wanted to get this bus and was at the right bus stop outside the terminal building with a load of other people who were waiting for different buses. I saw the 816 bus approach, I reached for my bag and prepared for boarding....but then IT DIDN'T STOP.. It...
Just followed your directions on Google maps... It looks like an amazing part of the coastl. I think I will definitely try it when I return next Easter. Looks like much more interesting way of passing through Santander. Thanks.
My only dilemma is whether it is too big of an undertaking to start...
I think bus is best.
You can get a bus straight from Santander Airport to the Bus Terminal in Bilbao. You may have to change there for Irun.
