    Walking in October - does it differ much from May / June?

    I remember that rain, too well. Also, days are shorter. Sun generally doesn’t come up until close to 9am. We used headlamps on most Oct mornings.

    Public transportation availability

    Arriving a couple days early to Bayonne and will be moving from an apartment on Thursday, Aug 15 (public holiday) to go to one in San Sebastián. Will public transportation be available, specifically taxis? Thanks.

    Reached Sarria last year and went in search of laces. Found them at Caminoteca (?). Have the leftover one in pack for the Norte in a few weeks. Didn’t think to use the paracord that was on hand. Now double prepared.

    Most cherished souvenir is the medal given to me by the nuns at the Ermita de a Virgen de Monasterio in Rabe de Las Calzadas - a bit outside of Burgos.

    A peregrine falcon may swoop, especially if it believes their eyasses (chicks) are in danger. An 'attack' on a human however is rare as @Peterexpatkiwi noted. I would expect the same of other birds of prey.

    I walked a week in rain last summer wearing Topo Ultraventures. Like you, I worried how this was going to work out. Turns out, just fine. Feet got wet, stayed wet during the rain. The water created a comfortable squishy-ness in the shoes. Had no real issues other than feet feeling heavier...

    October Camino - shorts?

    I wore shorts from mid-Sept to end October last year on the Frances. This included 7+ days of pouring rain. Poncho covered my legs just fine and it wasn't cold. The extra weight of wet pants, not for me.
