I have stayed here a few times. I had lunch here in September 2021 and chatted to its owner. No sign that it was going to close. Appeared very sudden.

Used to carry a light sleeping bag on my earlier Caminos during May but 2 years ago I switched to a Sea to Summit liner and haven't looked back. If I do get chilly at night, I just wear a fleece.
But I can recommend Neson....A restaurant at the end of the town. It is owned by an Irish lady. I stayed for an hour or so chatting away to her. She even asked if I would stay for a meal. It was very warm so I opted on walking ahead to Hontanas. Her reason to stay in Spain..Love! :)
Agree! I stopped by the parroquial in Bercianos in 2013 and loved it. Although my out of tune rendition of With or Without You by U2 left very much to be desired. :)

It is 26km from Terradillos to Hermanillos. Leaving Hermanillos, you will be led to Mansilla de las Mulas.
The next town is El Burgo Ranero. I stopped here in Albergue Domineco Laffi. Lovely donativo. I stayed in Bercianos in 2013 but El Burgo is another 7km. You could take the Roman Way option and walk to Calzadilla de los Hermanillos after Sahagun but I haven't visited that town before.
I walked the meseta from Burgos to Astorga from Sept 5th. It was very warm with temps in the 30s. I found alot of folks hired bikes to Leon. I didn't come across one completo albergue - well actually no, Carrion de los Condes was full up by 2.
