    Primitivo accommodation advice

I see a 2022 review of it on Wise Pilgrim, but I don't see that name listed on the current Wise Pilgrim app, nor on Gronze. My FindPenguins entry from Sep 2023 says I stayed at the Albergue Camino Primitivo, a private albergue that is listed on both. Last year, base price was the usual 15€...

    Primitivo accommodation advice

...Cruce in La Espina is a private donativo, and if your stages and budget permit, I would highly recommend. I donated 20€ that night. Berducedo is *the* choke point, and I watched several late arrivals without reservations (Sep 20th or 21st, 2023, if memory serves) take a taxi to La Mesa...

    Primitivo stages & accommodation.

I can speak well of Albergues El Cruce, Casa Herminia, and Ponte Ferreira from last September. ;)

Difficulty/ dangerousness/ albergues on the Primitivo?

One note of caution. The Primitivo in the first week has more elevation changes per day than most of the Frances, all of the route to Finisterre, and some of the second half of the Norte. Your comfort with 20-25 km/ day as you experienced on the route to Finisterre will not likely work as well...

LIVE from the Camino K's Primitivo 24

:::chuckle::: That's a bit more limiting on the Primitivo in the early stages than on the Frances. Strongly recommend Gronze plus Wise Pilgrim or Buen Camino to see all your possibilities. The potential is that the bubble poor Kari is stuck in will dissipate soon, as the May 1 holiday ends...

LIVE from the Camino K's Primitivo 24

Depending on your plan, you may want to wander up to the churches about when they open, and then hopefully follow a GPS track to the Primitivo. Consider stopping in Escamplero as a shorter stage. (I toured the churches the day before I started, so didn't go that way).

    Good snack for the Hospitales

...Although I'd prepare for an angry farmer if you choose to glean from his herds, and fires are generally frowned upon... 😉 The one thing you * won't* find on the Primitivo within 5km of Hospitales is a panderia/ bakery. There is a pretty well equipped shop in Campiello. I have heard...

And OP is not the first to make that assumption about Tincatinker. ;)

Looking for advice for Camino Primitivo

I am *so* stealing this for when/if a redo of the Primitivo makes it back onto my ever expanding bucket list ;-)

Looking for advice for Camino Primitivo

...where you are and deliver to where you're going. On the Frances, some albergues won't accept hard sided suitcases, but all will accept backpacks, *if* they accept luggage at all. Tour companies know this, but individual travelers need to be aware. I don't *think* any albergues on the...

    Food on the Primitivo

Re Tineo on a Sunday, probably. Sundays and Mondays are iffy for bars, tiendas, and albergues in the smaller towns. Do note that there is a store in Campiello, attached to the Casa Herminia/Albergue Herminia, where you may stock up. I believe that you can at least buy breakfast and...

    Camino Primitivo Spring packing

...can do this. I just want you to remember that you can take it slow until you get used to it, IF you need to. And, although some would not, you * can* choose to ship a pack ahead, if you need a break. Again, give yourself permission to walk your Camino your way. Heck, it may be easy for...

    Camino Primitivo Spring packing

Paula, I walked the Primitivo in September last year, and everyone on these boards knows what a hard time I had. I, too, was borderline obese, and I was 61 when I started. The few posts I made are still out here somewhere. What worries me for you is that you have not admitted to double...

Detour to Santa Eulalia de Bóveda

Ah...eating ripe chestnuts in September ( though I confess I prefer mine roasted, in the end). I go by a rule I learned in a tropical fruit park/garden outside Miami...I don't pick from the tree or vine. If it's on the Way (literally) and in good shape, then I glean. ;) Now, back to your...

    Credential for Camino Primitivo

...You're from Australia...does the local Pilgrim's association sell one via mail? The pilgrim rate at the Cathedral for basic non-Mass entry for pilgrims * starting* in Oviedo was 4 euro as of Sept 2023 ( same price as for the unemployed;). Personally, I shelled out for the tower and guided...

Camino Primitivo - Scared of Heights

Yep, that's the area. Again, *i* was concentrating too much to take a pic, except at that one rock outcropping. OP, when you use the Buen Camino app, you can set a switch to show the bike alternatives. The road down to Montefurado (?) is one of them.

    newbie seeking advice Camino Primitivo

Hi there! Buen Camino. I started the Camino in Hoka boots, and then switched to Challengers at Lugo. But, by all that's holy, check yourself out on terrain before you go. I bought poles in Oviedo and used them A LOT until at least Ferreira. Seriously. Respect the terrain, if it's your first...

    Which accommodations open in Feb?

Get WhatsApp...sometimes an albergue owner will respond thru WhatsApp . But the municipals, if they're open, won't take reservations. I will be honest...I don't know how long or short your early stages will be. Be prepared to carry food when you find an open tienda, and be prepared to be very...
