    Pronation

I did because I had a little bit of tendonitis on my return from Camino. Everything was normal on MRI and I am fine but he did say that I had pronation and suggested orthotics if I walk again, which I will consider but in the meanwhile he suggested I get a pair of Hoka One One recovery slip-ons...

Advice sought for wounds on feet from walking

Stop immediately and get your feet taken care of. They will only get worse if you continue. So sorry that happened to you. As a person with sensitive feet (bunions) I had a bag full of things to take care of my feet and what I found most helpful was lamb's wool and Compeed.

How to get the soap residue out of socks

I was interested in your question so I check the SmartWool website and they mentioned that one should never wring or twist the socks when attempting to get the water out. If hand washing, I am assuming that is how one would get the water out. It can contribute to a felting of the socks.

Forecast arrival of pilgrims in Santiago

I know for myself, weather was the first thing I looked at when deciding when to go on the Camino. I tried to pick the least crowded time with the best weather predictions and luckily for me, it worked. I had 11 days of beautiful weather. Luck was on my side.

How the Camino can change your life: Personal experiences and expectations

No expectations, concerned about my foot health, no surprises and life back home has not changed at all but I think about the journey every day. I left Santiago saying "never again" to thinking "I wonder if I could do it again." There is something special about walking the Camino.

Best time to reserve flights, trains, accommodations, etc.?

Fellow Canuck here, if you put a single question in the search bar, you will get much valuable information. You have a year to gather intel and will most likely get answers to all your questions.

E-sim for both portugal and Spain

Yes, I figured that out eventually but I still didn't get coverage in Spain. I think I was sold the wrong package by the salesperson which is why I advised caution when buying.

E-sim for both portugal and Spain

I had a different experience with Vodaphone, I purchased in Porto and it only worked in Portugal even though I stressed to the woman in the store I needed for both countries. She assured me it would work in Spain and it didn't. Just be careful when you purchase your plan.

Any risk of walking without insoles?

But like you said, your feet are swelling in the afternoon. I had issues with that too, swelling in the PM. I wore a liner and a pair of light merinos so I would just take the liners off and that worked.

Breaking Up the Walk from Porto to Vila do Conde

That is what I did too this past April and stopped in Matosinhos for a very nice lunch before catching the Metro back to Porto. Worked out well! I think I heard about doing this from another person on the forum.

standard of living/quality of life in Spain

I think you have to take into account too, the high end of a median income in the US.....there are many, many, many really wealthy people and that would skew the median up whereas in Spain there probably isn't the same numbers of wealthy people......take the average income of the 1% in the US...

    If You Are Sick

That kind of thing irritates me to no end! Same with on planes. I am the one who will hand a snot filled, coughing passenger on our public transportation a Kleenex when they are coughing in everyone's face. I even went to my doctor's office once and sitting in a waiting room, a young man was...

LIVE from the Camino Account of a very challenging day SJPdP to Roncesvalles (crazy weather)

I was amazed by how difficult it was to get vegetables, especially in Spain. They eat carbohydrates and meat and seafood (some of which I wouldn't eat like octopus, squid and other). Vegetables are hard to come by, I was happy to get back home to my daily allotments of veggies. I still don't...

If there are too many pilgrims, what is a pilgrim to do?

As a newbie who just returned from walking my first Camino, CP, mostly on Senda Littoral, Coastal and Spiritual Variente, I thought it was so beautiful. I was very lucky, both in weather and number of people walking. There were enough to share some time with but not so many to be annoying at...

Flooding rains on the spiritual variant?

I walked the "water and stone path" exactly 2 weeks ago today and it was a clear, sunny day and the path had mostly dried out. With the rain you mention I would just go "slow and steady", make sure you have your poles and take your time. No point rushing....some of the variant had quite slippy...

    getting sick

Back home now from my Camino with very, very mild Plantar Fasciitis (clearing off quickly with ice, stretching and rest) and a mild cold. I knew as soon as I got on the plane with people hacking around me that I would get a cold. It is so difficult to protect yourself from others who insist...

    Baggage transfer on variante espiritual

I used Caminofacile just recently, they distributed to the Espiritual Variant....

    Pilgrimage or vacation?

I think it is nice that someone thought enough of you to wish you well. Not everyone knows about the Camino.
