    Salvadorana, Saturday/sunday

More colorful than the one I got last summer !

    Salvadorana, Saturday/sunday

The cathedral should deliver a Salavadorana even during Pentecost: just try to avoid masses times.

Where to start past Le Puy to save 4-6 days

It would be a pity to miss Le Puy-Conques ! I advice to skip these days elsewhere. 1st solution (but I do not know about public transport avaibility): try to find a bus after the Cele, may be in St Cirq-Lapopie or Cabrerets, then go to Cahors by bus, then to Moissac or Lectoure by train or bus...

    Camino Verde from Primitivo ..

Rather Lugo-Friol-Sobrado-Arzua-O Pedrouzo-Santiago. Take care not arriving too late in Sobrado if you plan to sleep in the monastery: there can be a huge queue when the Norte is crowded.

    Dual Pilgrimage

In any case, congratulations for this dual pilgrimage ! I hope you will get your dual Compostela, and please tell us a bit about this Kumano Kodo way (accommodation, cost, sceneries...).

    Camino Verde from Primitivo ..

Nothing important to add. Casa Benigno in Friol is the only accomodation I found last summer. Friol is a nice town. Nice camino, especially on the first day. Be careful that dogs met on this camino are not used to pilgrims as they are on main caminos. Buen Camino !

Is Novellana on this route? I’m walking from Santiago to Muxía and then on to Finesterre.

I am afraid not: it is about 300 km from Muxia...

    Medication woes

My advice is to transfer liquids from glass bottles to small plastic cruets, in order to get a not so heavy backpack.

    Alternatives to walking if injured

In the Tourism Office of Burgos, you will find some help in english. Perhaps also in the municipal next to the cathedral.

    Re: Current Lunch Prices

Indeed, making the whole world believe that, apart from water, our french overrated wines are the only allowed beverage, is a good thing. Our wine growers need to sell their bottles... In France it used to be not acceptable to drink anything before finishing the soup. My grandmother said in...

    Re: Current Lunch Prices

In France this is also mandatory. If the waiter asks you "Plate ou gazeuse ?", answer "carafe !". It is the way to get free water.

How to decide how long to walk for

My feeling is that the minimum is a week, because during the 3-4 first days you have not the benefit of walking, only the drawbacks. I consider that you need at least two weeks to disconnect. The maximum depends on your wishes, and the time left by your partner, your boss, your pet...

    Re: Current Lunch Prices

It depends: - if you are pessimistic, half empty open bottles. - if you are optimistic, half full open bottles.

Maybe a little late with my planning for le Puy...

Because in France, many pilgrims do their Chemin part after part, namely by slices of 8-10 days. Le Puy-Conques is doable within this time, and it is the most famous/beautiful segment of Voie du Puy. Moreover, arrival at Conques is something magical. Therefore many pilgrims do only this part...

    Finding Camino Patches

FYI, on this site: Spanish coat of arms patches ...you will find many patches for towns of the Camino Francés. At this point Puente-La-Reina, Pamplona, Santiago, Roncesvalles, León, Logroño, SJPP... others are in process. There are also a number of French Towns for Voie du Puy and so on...

    EU Ruling On Bookings.Com

IMHO, all the intermediate (between pilgrims and hospitaleros) on the Camino should be avoided when possible, because they do business with the Camino.

Maybe a little late with my planning for le Puy...

When I reach SJPP after walking Podiensis, the hospitalero tells us: "You have walked in France, you will walk in Spain. If you want to enjoy Camino Francés, try to forget all you know about Voie du Puy". It is a wise advice, and should be told also to those who know the Francés before Voie du...

    Few questions - advice

A knife can be useful (for chorizo, fruits, ham…). A spork if you intend to buy prepared salads. Plate is useless. Yes. No. Prefer cash. However, you will find ATM in the main towns (not so much on Primitivo…).

    Help: 6 weeks to go

Every time you can, take off shoes and socks, and let your feet dry. Blisters come when the feet remain wet and warm.
