  Nowadays I take the train to Madrid the day before my flight to Australia and enjoy my last night in the city.

  Flights from Santiago arrives in a far away gate/ terminal. You better arrive the day before, sleep somewhere near the airport and go to the airport 3 hours before departure.

  The Invierno is more popular than the Olvidado. In May or July I'm sure you could expect to see a handful of pilgrims a day on the Invierno — at least that was my experience last June.

  Madrid airport is a nightmare. Huge. Give yourself plenty of time. I always stay at the Barcelo which is near the Charmartin train station but there are taxis back and forth at resonable rates.

  Looking back at 2024, for me personally a year with two sad faces. We lost two transgender girls from the group I volunteer with for walks. So heartbreaking especially for the girls who stayed behind. All the fun things that were there also faded...
