Corkscrew do I take one with me?

There is always a way. When you want your wine, you will find a way.

Corkscrew do I take one with me?

Wine is important. How you get it out of the bottle isn't.

Many people find gratuitous advice tiring.

Where to start past Le Puy to save 4-6 days

Sorry, you are going to have to look this up for yourself. I was told about it when I stayed at Conques art the Abbey. As I was walking with a donkey I didn't write it all down. I suggest the place to start looking would be the Mairie or thé village website. I do know the buses are very...

Where to start past Le Puy to save 4-6 days

Decazeville. There are a few buses, too. Though you would have to look them up. Rome2rio should be useful for that.

Where to start past Le Puy to save 4-6 days

There is a subsidised taxi from the station to Conques. You could start there. Shame to miss Conques.

Appointment needed to go to health Center ?

I don't think that's invariably true or even terribly relevant. The health centre is public health care and is what you will find in a small town . If you want a private hospital or clinic then only the larger towns will have one. It will probably be easier and quicker to visit the local health...

    Recovering, step by step

Good to hear of steady improvement for all the wounded warriors. For those who like to read, I would suggest an e-reader for instant new books! Maybe on a gooseneck stand fixed to your favourite chair, with a page turner clipped to the reader. And possibly a cat on your lap for warmth and...

    Re: Current Lunch Prices

It's certainly still current in Poitou Charentes. We call it godaille and usually mop it up with bread. I have heard that it's acceptable to drink a dry sherry with a consommé but that was a long time ago in a country far away. I'll drink wine with anything except chocolate, and I might even...

    Re: Current Lunch Prices

Sorry, wrong again. The French drink what they want and waiters don't have heart attacks if your choice is unusual. Either bottled or tap water is normal and wine is of course another option. You really don't know much about France, less than I do, but then I've only lived here for thirty five...

    Re: Current Lunch Prices

Not again! I think everyone learns basic table manners as a child, which is all anyone expects. I can learn any big differences in about five minutes, which leaves plenty of time for thinking about anything else I want to think about. Funnily enough, it doesn't include listening to or reading a...

Has the dog “policy” on the Camino changed?

I once did a walk in France with a dog and a donkey. Not even my dog, his owner was on holiday. Sometimes the dog got to stay in my room, sometimes in my tent, and often in the stable with the donkey. Sometimes all three of us were in the stable. We all had a great time. Just don't expect a...

    Re: Current Lunch Prices

Why not? It's as cheap to make so an increased price is likely due to tax. If there is no extra tax on the beer then the cost should reflect the production cost.

    Re: Current Lunch Prices

That's certainly the system in France. Usually it's possible to buy exactly the same wine both in bag in box and bottle, in the middle of the price range at least. My local pub serves a very nice Pays d'Oc in cafafe or bottle ( 25cl or 50cl or 1 litre in carafe, the bottle is standard 75cl) ...

    Re: Current Lunch Prices

I live on France and that's how I buy my everyday wine. Usually in a 3 litre bag in box which fits nicely in the fridge or on the table and keeps for as long as it needs to. The bag collapses as it's emptied so the air doesn't get in. Sometimes the box is omitted but there is always a tap at the...

Oh yes, I feel your pain. The PTSD lasts for a long time after that sort of experience.

    Re: Current Lunch Prices

Excuse me while I go and bang my head against the wall. Training trips? It's a walk in a first world country. With places to stay. Good grief.

    The Camino will provide?

I think that's the best and most profound post I've seen on this thread. I'm not terribly keen on Oliver Cromwell myself, but he did at least have a deep belief in what he was trying to do. For those who disagree with me and for those who think Cromwell was entirely misguided and that the...
