I have walked the CF 2x and CdN 1x, on the CF I would recommend staying in different places then your last Camino. The time of day, year, light, etc. will lead to new memories and experiences. Places I walked in early morning darkness were lovely to encounter at the end of the day and vice...
I only walk in Injinji coolmax socks and hiked in La Sportiva Trail runners. Just one sock, not two. Not sure where you shop but REI and Amazon sell them. I have walked in high heat and cold rain in them on the Camino and I will never be without that combo. I do at times get a bit of a hotspot...
There is a reception area below the office where you get your compestella that offer bag storage for you. Get your place in line and drop off your bag.
I stayed in a private room in the Albergue in Uterga. I was kept up throughout the night by the barking dogs in the neighbors yard. That has been three years ago. But I would walk on to Obanos and take the chance it’s better.
My husband is a foodie, and we have now eaten at several Michelin on the Frances and the Norte. We love the added experiences, mostly great, with a few that were not worth it. We almost always go for lunch since dinner is too late to walk the next day. When we had lunch in Leon at Cocinandos...
Having done the Frances in 21 and, this year, the Norte, I missed the pilgrim interaction, infrastructure, and churches were mostly closed unless it was service time. It was a very beautiful landscape and definitely more difficult, but I realized I was walking with intentions and desires that...
I'm on the Norte now and walked the Frances last year in September/ October. The Norte is beautiful, and as others have said the Frances has more community and open churches and services. Of you are wanting to enjoy the community aspect of the Camino I'd choose the Frances.
I used one last year, the Samsung version. And again this year on the Norte. Very helpful. I use Correos to do my transfers and needed it 3 times last year when it was miss delivered on the Frances. This year on the Norte is been perfect and I haven't needed to track it down, it has beat me to...
On the Norte right now and it's a challenge in the early stages. Many stories of groups of people pilgrim's going in together for an air BNB apartment or finding someone to share a hotel room.
I was able to use jacotrans to move a bag many stages ahead. I used hotels the night I be would arrive where the bag was waiting. I contacted the hotel in advance to confirm they would hold the bag for my arrival, that was never a problem. HTH, Buen Camino
If you are in the US, I recommend shopping at REI. You will get great help and can exchange what does not work. I ended up in La Sportiva ultra raptors. I went up several sizes as they run small. You want a shoe that is a 1/2 size up for swelling that will occur. I also added custom orthotics...
I walked last year after a bad tibial plateau fracture. I had one week walking full body weight before leaving. I chose to have my pack transported to not add extra weight. I used hiking poles. I brought several freezer zip bags to use for ice packs to bring down the pain and swelling along with...
