I also fall into the category of gluten intolerant (Crohn’s) - though the effects are not quite as severe, they are definitely still present. My experience was on the Francés, but another celiac friend who traveled throughout N Spain reported that he was delighted to find good celiac-friendly...
It’s Casa Tia Teresa now!

Should also add: the zip pocket was large enough to accommodate passport, cell phone and zip wallet with cash when I wanted to travel maximally light.
I also got the Trailmade short which was lightweight and comfortable to sleep in at night. There are 2 pockets on each leg but they don’t zip...
I used REI Trailmade pants on my recent Camino. Chose bc they offer petite sizes, lightweight and quick drying, zipper pocket on right thigh for cell phone, elastic cord at ankle to keep dust out and of course the generous 1 year return policy if anything doesn’t hold up...
@april_pdx I am also in PDX and resonate with the sense of dissonance from having recently returned as well. Lmk if you’d like accompaniment, esp. walking & chatting to continue “unpacking” from the Camino. 🙏🏻✨
Camino angels abound! @Bradypus agreed, It is/was difficult at the beginning to accept generosity - but I found it also transformed & inspired me to become that source of generosity for others 🙏🏻
Two angel stories I can contribute:
A couple weeks ago I had an injury in the descent coming down...
Ahhh, if only I checked forums earlier - we were near Atocha last night as well before our flights home today! Pride 🏳️🌈 in Madrid was spectacular, wish we had arranged to stay longer to enjoy more of it!! Safe travels home.
Love this, thank you for sharing, @David -Prior to my 17 yo son and I beginning our Camino in Astorga on June 14/15, I was carrying a lot of anxiety and worry about what might go wrong, especially in terms of the chronic illness I live with. The very first day, within an hour of getting off the...
My 17 yo son and I are just finishing tomorrow, having started June 15 in Astorga. After the first night we either went without reservations or making reservations the night before for the next day when an injury meant sending luggage forward. We never had a single problem and were always able...
We made the decision on an early arrival in Rabanal to push on to Foncebadón and hobbled in to the first place we encountered, El Convento, on the right when entering the village. They had plenty of availability (mid June). It turned out to be a wonderful and memorable evening among new friends...
Salceda might not have a ton going for it, but if you find yourself hungry in the area, get thyself henceforth to Casa Tia Teresa. We had grilled scallops and pollo asado, which were both transcendent. Wager that would be the case for pretty much anything else on the menu. Could not have asked...
Your title caught my attention and my current state. I am writing from A Salceda, preparing (perhaps more so emotionally than physically) to finish our Camino tomorrow in Santiago after beginning on the 15th in Astorga. Soooo many feelings: can’t believe it’s almost over, my feet are grateful...
I also was injured in VdB and looked for the same information after getting the name from Rome2Rio. Never found any other information or the location. When we were walking later from Vega de Valcarce to Las Herrerías, I did see one of their vans (NOT a bus) being used to transport kids to a...
And I also am super appreciating the flexibility and pack weight friendliness of UV arm sleeves. I really dislike sunscreen lotions. The sleeves I have are warm for cool mornings, easy to take on/off without stopping or taking my pack off, and also highly breathable when it gets hot too - when...
Echoing others, I also had a sleep study that revealed apnea almost a decade ago. Mine was co-occurring with other health issues and eventually corrected with surgery, but I did benefit from a CPAP in between. I can attest to how life changing it is to not lose oxygen every 3 minutes during...
