Welcome to the club! Get a well-fitted pack and good shoes, pack light, start slow and see you there. I should rejoin the Camino frances around the 16 or 17 of September in Puente la Reina
I too started like that...it lasted 3 days. By Cizur Mener, I was cured and usually left among the last ones at 7:15-7:30 but I got to the albergue in the middle of the pack without rushing too much, just a regular pace.
But you're in Spain, not in the jungle or deep forest. You'll come across plenty of bars to warm up or get away from heavy rain or a sports store if you need a warmer t-shirt.
Spaghetti is always appreciated! :D A hearty soup too. Then there's always the option to partner up with someone who cooks and you provide the desert and wine.
Maybe you can walk the Valcarlos road. If you don't want to do that, try making a réservation at Hunto for your first night instead of staying in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port; it makes the walk to Roncesvalles more manageable.
Something similar happened to me twicw in Paris where the guys followed me for 2 hours...I finally snapped, cursed at them and threatened to go to the police. They quickly turned around in shock.
Veils? It's not the 50's in Spain. It's a modern country that has seen religion lose its grip on society. Unlike the USA where more than 40% of the population attends church, Spain only has 23% and more than 50% say they never attend at all. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_attendance)
This is why you should never agree to a set time to contact someone because if you can't do it for some reason (lack of computer, you forget because you're having too much fun,...) it makes people scared.
I hate wearing a hat since I find it really hot. I do wear a Buff...keeps the sweat off my face and neck. I am bringing a very lightweight running cap to wear with my poncho and keep the rain off my glasses.
Re: Re: Re: Class of 2013
