Go for it! I actually got a little confused walking out of Coimbra, the arrows were hard to find (August 2018). I’d say that from Coimbra onwards is very pretty and very well marked.
Good luck and enjoy.
Nothing really mate. I’ve been twice now and it’s actually all straight forward. Only concern I had was walking out of Lisbon and thought ‘what if I get injured’ as no one else was around.
Relax, have fun, enjoy. And take care of those feet.
Hi peeps,
Can I please have some help.
I’m Caminha right now, and planned to take the ferry tomorrow. I’ve been so tired and all I haven’t really been looking at the map and I just realised if I take the ferry I’ll miss seeing Tui and Valenca.
Am I right in that the coastal route continues...
Yeah I treated myself to a hot towel shave and cut in Leon - found him in the old town. Total hipster, ink and all. Just smile and laugh and you’ll be fine. Was so great I felt a million bucks after ( and bought a new pair of jocks after the cut!).
Little things in life ..
Having a rest day in a hostel 150km north of Lisbon. It is shockingly hot. Burning. Myself and a poor Italian woman walked 32 km yesterday and are now paying for it. More than sweltering.
Temps may have decreased, but between Santarém and Golega today it was scorching. The sun was burning - 4 lots of sunscreen stops - with all the sweat it made not much difference.
Absolutely rancid day.
Take your time, pack super super super super super light, and most of all, be prepared for some setbacks. I’d also say lookup and enjoy the scenery, something I regret not doing more.
Hola!
Yes the heatwave looks dreadful, especially for those fighting fires. It’s 27 from Tuesday the mid 20s from Wednesday , so that seems lovely ( compared to 13 and rain in Melbourne!).
Yeah I’ve used three tubes in the last week alone! Thank god that stuff is over the counter in Australia. Glad it worked out for you. I’m hoping some summer heat in my bones and joints will work wonders. Fingers crossed.
Thanks for your reply - and you know what - I had the exact thought over lunch. It’s a grand idea and a train to Porto is 24 Euros or something and plenty of alburgues there. It’s the plan - from the web i can gather i could try some very short days of 5 kms out of Porto and who knows ...
Well, life, can indeed throw lemons. I’m aged 39 and 10 months, never had foot issues in my life and successfully walked SJPP to SdC in 2015. I fly out tomorrow from Melb to Lisbon planning another Camino.
10 days ago I had chronic foot/calf pain and have been diagnosed with tendonitis. Blimey...
