I 2nd a good trail shoes. If you don't enjoy walking with wet feet, some waterproof trail shoes (Gtx or eVent) would be beneficial. I have walked the Norte/Primitivo and Frances with boots as I needed ankle support. However, I have managed to wean off the boots and am now using Trail shoes with...
I second the Hoka hiking shoes. Most of my life I have worn leather boots. Since discovering the Hoka tor tech mid shoes, never go back to heavier boots.
The benefits of a mid cut is that it is easier to keep the Water, mud or debries from entering.... This model also has an eVent layer that...
I bought the 2nd generation Hoka, the Tor Tech mid, for their increased cushioning and tighter fit (35 mm heel, 31 mm toe). I have been climbing 4000 ft mountains all summer/fall/winter and put this shoe through the wringer. Awesome shoe.
I have two small issues. The outsole is not deep enough...
That is almost half the MSRP. I suspect the price could come down even further. When products reache STP, you know its going to be a discontinued soon, if not already. Campsaver and Backcountry also have them for sale at $108 with free shipping.
Looks like Hoka launched the 2nd generation Tor hiking shoes; the Tor adventure and Tor ultra. The upper seems to have been completely redesigned.
Still no wide widths though...looks promising
Yes but the shoes have to suit the mixed terrain one would face on the camino, not to mention long distances....Here is a review/comparison of top women's Trail running shoes: http://www.outdoorgearlab.com/Trail-Running-Shoes-Womens-Reviews
It all depends on your body. I will soak in minutes with any kind of sleeved jackets (even with breathable shells). A sleeveless tarp poncho is my choice for summer. Poncho can cover your pack and 2/3 of your body and have room to continue to use your poles without exposing one's arms....
Good to hear that i am not alone with an enlarging feet. My right foot length increased by one full size while my left foot widened from medium to about 3E. So I have been around the block trying to find a good fitting boot. This side of the Atlantic, Keen, Merrell, LLbean and Cabelas carry true...
I also sweat and have hardly any hair left. So, I avoid any hat that can absorb and retain sweat. I usually wear a baseball cap type. On my last Camino I had great success with the OR sun runner cap. It is light weight, has mesh panels and has a skirt that covers your ears and the neck, for...
My guess is that you have poor quality socks. I have used Lowas in most of my hikes. The insole that comes with Lowas are useless. I suggest replacing the insoles with something like superfeet. And try the Smartwool PhD light mini socks. These merino socks are tightly woven, hugs to your feet...
Smartphone cameras can take just as good pictures as regular ones. Only limitation is that they are made with fixed lenses. For some rare scenes, there are clip-on lenses you can buy with telephoto/micro/wideangle capabilities. You can read about the latest iphone lenses kit reviews here...
Most doctors in north america participate in promoting the test and widespread use of pharma products. So, doctors are biased therefore we should not listen to them!
Having walked two Caminos I would have thought your foot would have hardened (adapted) to long walks by now. It illustrates how challenging it is to keep ones feet dry. I have walked two Caminos without any blisters, wearing lightweight leather boots (no gtx) and synthetic/merino wool socks. I...
I find these shoes are more accurate to their European sizing:
------ Mens
Lowa 10.5 44
Hoka 10.5 44 2/3
Hoka 10 44
I had to size down with Hoka to fit my eu44 foot. When i try my regular US size 10.5, Hoka is almost 1 eu size larger. Thats is why it feels generous.
I...
It took some of us years to find the right footware. It all depends on what attribute is more important than the other. If you are walking in dry climate then waterproofing is not important. If it is important, either leather or gtx/eVent lined shoes.
I have tried the Hoka summit, Mafate 4 and...
