For the entire CF I just took one pair of Merrel mid walking shoes to protect my ankles never wore them until then , except to make sure they were rhe right fit and comfortable .. I treated my feet with Vaseline at the start of each day , en route I took the chance to bathe my feet in water...
First of all enjoy and have a wonderful adventure ..I am in Astorga at present walking the Frances and downsized my weight to 3kg that's one set of clothing, 3 socks , 3 layers of underware , sleeping bag liner , micro towel , poncho , first aid kit , suntan lotion , toiletries , thermos cup...
Can I add my two pennies worth to this topic ...it may not be relevant but hey how what do I know ..I have android phone on a contract with a UK provider I have free unlimited calls and texts plus 12Gb a month of data ..I come to do the Camino Frances and pay no extra as using the phone abroad...
I understand what your saying , I have another backpack at home and some sticks too , but after 35 days or so I just wanted to go back home with less than what I came with ..when I did the Inglis over 6 days I found the other pilgrims to be students when I was old enough to be there grandfather...
Yes it is me again with a question before I head out later to make my way to the airport then onto SJPDP .
After finishing the camino is there a place where I can hand in my 45l backpack and hiking sticks .it is just that I would like to leave them behind and travel light back to the UK with...
I was thinking of going two days earlier to spend sometime in Bayonne first rather than rush to SJPDP ...ryanair said just pay the difference..I checked their prices and having first priority boarding for an extra £22 I could take on board a 10kg bag for the overhead bin on top of the £9.99...
If your going with Ryanair then put it in the hold if you want to take your Osprey..I could not be bothered to change my backpack for Biarritz as it would cost more to buy another backpack and as you say you cannot risk turning up and expecting to take it on board with you
I be taking 5kg in my backpack next week according to my weighing scales plus hiking sticks which Is another kg ..I added a week of toiletries and a small first aid kit with ibuprofen, vasaline for my feet before I set off each morning
Lol I have a senior railcard being that I am 62 this year but agree all the add ons is far cheaper then trains in the UK... in total I have paid £62 for the coach ticket to Stansted Airport, my flight , backpack in the hold , seat reservation and breakfast on the 7:00 flight next week to Biarritz..
Yes I checked Ryanair before booking my flight to see what their rules were which seem the same as EasyJet so it was cheaper for me to pay for it to be in the hold rather than in the overhead rack and they state hiking poles must go in the hold as they can be used as a weapon ,which is...
Last time I took a backpack on the plane with me , at the departure gate I was asked to take everything out to see what was allowed and what was not but I suppose that is the UK for you that's why I thought putting it in the hold this time round .
I am putting mine in the hold next week to Biarritz for the Frances and though I have a 10kg allowance it only be 6kg as I am taking my hiking poles they not allowed on the aircraft with me .. just incase yours won't be allowed for being oversized try squshing it down by 2inches if you have...
