We want to start from Aveiro, Portugal next September. I am assuming about three days to reach Porto. From there we will walk the inland route to Santiago. Are there any hiking trails to follow rather than just highway to reach Porto from Aveiro? Help wanted.
Hi all,
My wife and I walked the Camino Frances last fall and we will be walking the Camino Portuguese next fall. I have written a book that uses the Camino Frances as the backdrop, a novel that blends mythology, history, and psychology as a small group of pilgrims walk from Saint Jean Pied de...
My wife and I are also Canadian and will be walking the Camino Frances (August 26 until sometime in October). We have a blog site at http://rglongpre.ca/pilgrim/ Read a bit and ask away. We are 66 (me) and 65 (her) and are celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary en route.
Buen Camino
Hey LeAnn - How was your journey? Maureen and I are getting antsy just waiting for the last four weeks to speed by as we train and get overloaded with family visiting. :
Apparently a pair of Merrell Moab GTX boots can last about 1,200 miles or 1,900 kilometres. If you get maximum distance (reports of these distances achieved on the Appalachian route in America) you should be able to do the Camino Frances twice. :)
Well, our flight tickets are bought and paid for with the result that we will begin the Walk from Saint Jean Pied de Port on August 26th, my wife's 65th birthday. We will celebrate our 44th wedding anniversary two days later. You can follow our story at our blog site at rglongpre.ca/pilgrim/ We...
Hi Cathy. My wife and I are also walking beginning the last week of August, 2015. We will be doing it "slow" between five and six weeks from SJPP to Finisterre. It is how we ate celebrating our 44th anniversary and her 65th birthday which will happen during our walk. Maybe we'll bump into you guys.
The pack I bought is a Fishpond (designed for anglers). I have an image of it on my blog site, I think the lastost - http://rglongpre.ca/pilgrim/ - I have to admit it more than pleases me.
I am curious as to people's experiences with either Injiji or Smartwool socks with toes in terms of blister control. I have my baby toes fold under causing blisters regardless o other strategies.
If I use both lumbar and backpack do both weights need to equal 10% of body weight? I am using the fanny pack to hold camera and quick access to first aid kit. I am hoping that it distributes weight better allowing for an "extra".
I took my backpack, a Vaude Brenta 38 Litre bag, as my carry on when I flew into Paris in August, 2012. I have since used the bag as my carry on for flights to Mexico twice, and I intend on using it as my carry on next year when I return to walking on the Camino.
