I walked from Málaga in 2015 so much may have changed since then. But you may find some useful info in my blog - I posted each day with details about landscape, elevation, facilities, etc. lots of photos included. You’re welcome to take a look.
We stayed in the Albergue which I guess is neither of the places you mention. Just in case it’s of interest, here are my observations from 2018…
The albergue here is at the very top of the very high hill that this town is built on. It was opened three years ago and has two rooms, each with three...
@Sitkapilgrim thanks so much for your very full account. It brought back many memories. Glad you found the peacock park in Placensia - what an unexpected treat. 🙏
Have you come across this guide in English. I found it very useful in 2015, but I’ve no idea if it has been updated.
I wasn’t recording my tracks on the first part of this camino but I had downloaded others’ Wikiloc tracks. If using unofficial tracks, just remember that they might not be 100%...
Hi Annie. What a shock - must have been very scary until the cyclists came along. Glad to read that you are feeling more positive now. If you have to take a break from caminoing then Granada is a good place to be. When I was there for a few days (to see Bob Dylan in concert) in 2015 I spent a...
I’m revisiting my blog to remind me of the stages. The first cut you might consider is from Granada to Moclin. A long stage with some uninspiring stretches. (36km)
And possibly the next stage from Moclin to Alcalá La Real (25km).
And then maybe the following stage to Alcuadete (25 km) and from...
Buen camino George. I’ve just been looking through photos from our Mozárabe from Málaga - 7 years ago already. Hope you have a wonderful walk, Maggie x
Hi @Bad Pilgrim. When I walked these stages it had been raining and the going was very tough -steep hills on slippery clay mud. There is a lot of accumulated elevation. I attach Wikiloc excerpts from Almogia to Villanueva and Villanueva to Antequera.
Thanks for your kind words Daniel. The forum is indeed a mine of information with helpful pilgrims who are delighted to share their knowledge. I have recently been gathering some really useful info on the alternative routes on the Norte which I will be walking again this year. I start walking...
I walked this route back in 2015. Until I reached Mérida it was a very lonely route. I was very glad that I had made contact with a pilgrim via this forum and we walked together, setting off from Málaga on 8 April. You can read my daily posts to my blog which might be useful for planning...
