This product does not prevent mosquito bites, but if you get one, this will stop the itch immediately and help prevent infection from scratching. I've used this on bites from the legendary Chesapeake Bay mosquitoes, and it works.

Did you know ticks can be romantic? o_O
Lyrics from country song "Ticks" by Brad Paisley:
'Cause I'd like to see you out in the moonlight
I'd like to kiss you way back in the sticks
I'd like to walk you through a field of wildflowers
And I'd like to check you for ticks."
I've followed up on a lot of the suggestions in this thread, and instead of bringing 5 doses of Humira to Spain, I now think it would be better to buy the Humira as needed in Spain (with some advance scheduling to be sure it will be there when my husband needs it). It is available in Spain...
Thanks for the explanation; I didn't quite understand the situation in your first post. I'll put a reminder to myself on my calendar to PM you in late May. Thanks so much for your help!
If we get overcharged for Humira, most of the cost will be borne by our prescription plan (assuming they will pay for overseas meds; still have to check on that). So if the pharmacist wants to cheat us, we won't be out of pocket very much. For us, getting the medicine is more important than...
Thanks for checking that, Kinky. It's just a little less expensive than in the U.S. If it turns out that my husband's prescription plan will cover most of the cost, and if Humira is reliably available in the larger towns/cities, we may not have to shlep it along in insulated flasks, a cumbersome...
Thanks for your suggestions. I will be buying my pack in the next week or two; then the experiments will begin.
I'm sure Humira is available in Spain, but where and at what cost? I registered at a site recommended above by Kinkyone, posted my questions and am currently waiting for answers.
My...
The first site requires a $49 membership fee, so I won't be using that, but thanks for mentioning it as a resource. I already registered with the second site and posted my question about availability and cost of Humira in Spain. Hope to hear from them soon.
Thanks.
Yes, most taxi drivers are not EMTs (Emergency Medical Technicians), and I would not trust them with my husband's health. No offense to taxi drivers (I was one myself many years ago), but they may not fully understand the stringent requirements to keep the Humira stable and viable.
...in a plastic/cardboard box that appears to be about 3x6x1/2 inches (7.5x15x1cm). I don't know which one my husband's doctor will want him to use.
****I forgot to add in my original post that once Humira is warmed to room or ambient temperature, it cannot then be rechilled and used. It must...
As I mentioned in some previous threads, my husband and I are making plans to walk the Camino starting in April 2017. His health has been a concern, as he has been suffering from an autoimmune condition that would prevent him from going if it remains uncontrolled.
His doctor has recommended...
It's no more cheating for you to have your pack transported than it was cheating for me to have bariatric surgery to cure my morbid obesity (though I was accused of that anyway).
My husband and I are in our mid-60s and plan to walk the Camino next spring 2017. Our intention is to carry our...
Our son and DIL think that the Camino is just another of our sometimes admittedly hare-brained ideas. I do want to show them that we can do it, in hopes that they will do something similar for themselves, even if it's just to go to the gym regularly. Both have high-pressure, time-consuming jobs...
Haha, I hate to admit it, but it was "The Way" that first instilled in me and my husband several years ago the desire to do the Camino. The first time we saw the film, I was at 275 pounds at a height of 5'1" (Sorry, metric system people. Convert it if you wish), and the Camino seemed like an...
I just did some figuring in my head (and on Google). My husband and I live on our boat in the summer and fall in a marina just outside Baltimore. If I load up my dirty laundry and head to the laundromat (which is where I take it anyway by car), drop it off (3 miles), stop at the supermarket on...
I have thought about cross training, but I'm not quite yet there physically to do even the mildest training. Maybe later on in the summer when I (and my husband) have built up a little strength and stamina.
I can't honestly say it's been cool, plainlost. I've been more impressed by the heat. The volcanoes to the north and south of Managua (Momotombo and Masaya) have both been erupting almost nonstop while I've been here. HOW HOT IS THAT? Very hot and very bad for my asthma. Love lots of things...
The past 3 months in Nicaragua have improved my Spanish proficiency, but I need more work before I can say I speak Spanish with any fluency. And by all accounts, Spanish in Spain is quite a bit different from Spanish in Nicaragua. Another thing to work on in addition to the physical aspects.
Our thinking is that if we can't get our weight, health, and stamina in good enough shape by October, we probably never will. I know that's a very negative way of thinking, but we've tried similar health stints in the past and they always came to nothing. If the Camino can't provide enough...
