Lost & Found Lost phone between Roncesvalles and Zubiri

I bought a phone case with a lanyard after seeing people wandering around in Madrid and Barcelona wearing their phones that way. It's now my Camino and holiday idiot string that keeps my phone attached to me and has the bonus of when I am wandering in knee deep water trying to take pictures of...

Lost & Found Lost phone between Roncesvalles and Zubiri

https://www.samsung.com/levant/apps/smartthings-find/ She can log in on any computer or smart phone to find hers. How she gets it back into her hands is another issue.

    post Camino walk...any advice?

It does sound exhausting, lol but I had 5 weeks for my touristing so nothing was too rushed. It was nice getting to see other parts of Spain and I spent a lot of time sitting in cafes with a glass of wine watching people go about their day.

    post Camino walk...any advice?

I had planned to walk to Finisterre and Muxia after my Camino from SJPdP, and then decided a couple of days piror to SdC that I needed to stop walking in Sanitago. I took the bus and spend a couple of nights each in Muxia and Finisterre. I got sunstroke in Finisterre and spent most of my time...

    Recent Smelly Pilgrim Test

On my first Camino I brought a shift style merino dress and wore it in the afternoons/evenings while on Camino and then every day for the rest of my holiday. 72 days in total. :D Everything else got washed but the dress did not and was fine lol. I've googled your 100 day dresses and have...

    Night sweats?

I like to walk to the far end of the pier before seeing sense and coming back. So...Tuberculosis. HIV. Menopause. Thyroid. Diabetes. COVID. Flu. UTI. Most likely: Hot room with too many people and no open window. Late night meals. Too much wine. Exhaustion. Please seek medical...

"It's not about the gear" camino article from an irish jesuit blog

Yes to the mental attitude! You have to be stubborn lol. You can't let the crappy morning or day stop you. You have to will yourself to get to that tree up ahead, over that ridge, to that shady spot at the bottom of the hill. There were a few days when I forced myself to meet these tiny...

Any tips from fellow sufferers from vein problems?

Purple Rain Adventure skirts are incredibly lightweight and knee length, I sometimes wear them over leggings (both capri and ankle length). Two pockets on each side. I have a couple of their skirts and I love them. They're pretty quick with delivery, but as you're leaving in a couple of weeks...

Conditions on Ingles this week and next (May 2024)

I walked Ingles in October and it rained every day, but only the first day was a hard rain, the rest was on and off all day. I wore Altra Lone Peak waterproof and they were fine which honestly surprised me. Bring a poncho! Buen Camino!

Surprised at our test results poncho vs jacket

It rained every day when I walked last autumn and it was waterproof so I was quite happy with it.

    Walking in rain

I walked Ingles the last week of October last year and it rained every day. I had my Decathlon poncho which is similar to the Altus. When it stopped raining I would pull it off and then wear it like a cape with the sleeves tucked through my shoulder straps and managed to get it on in a rush...

    Pack too heavy

There's a link in this thread to contact Ivar. Alternatively, if your friend has things he will not want after his Camino, he can walk into any post office (Correos in larger towns or cities) and they will help pack the box, label it and mail it home.

Surprised at our test results poncho vs jacket

This is the poncho I have from Decathlon, available online in Canada or in store, it's much cheaper than the Quecha https://www.decathlon.ca/en/p/8586260/hiking-rain-poncho-60-l-mt-500-black

Surprised at our test results poncho vs jacket

I love my poncho! I have one from Decathlon that has full sleeves with elastic cuffs and a 1/4 zip, no flapping open sides. Easy to pull on and off over my pack and it's about $30 Canadian!

Walking with a messenger bag rather than a backpack

My sister has an Implantable Loop Recorder and did not have any noticeable discomfort with her pack. I would be concerned about using the messenger bag as all the weight will be on one shoulder and be more painful. Have you tried taping some sort of padding over the pacemaker, or attaching...

    Definition of a Pilgrim 🤣

Tips: chop the handle off your tooth brush to save 10gr, use an eye drops bottle for hand sanitizer to save 90gr (because you'll only need 8ml of hand sanitizer on a 3 month backpacking trip) Wear your clothes inside out to get another days wear! Only bring one pair of underwear!

Money taken from my Cash Passport! ☹️

I have set my accounts to text and email me when any purchase is made over $5.00 which is always a nice reminder that I spend too much and often more painful with exchange rates. I also lock and unlock my accounts as needed.

    Definition of a Pilgrim 🤣

LOL I lurk on an ultralight forum and they are the dirtiest people. I would hate to walk downwind from them.

    The Camino will provide?

In these cases I (not Christian) am very willing to buy someone lunch. It's lunch, I'm not giving them hundreds of Euros. I'm not willing to financially support them for the entire Camino, but I can buy lunch. At home, I am known to take homeless people to lunch when asked for spare change...
