I am on my 10th pair of Columbia trail runners, i wear a size 15 to accommodate my size 14 foot. The Columbia shoes are normally quite wide with a very comfortable toe box. I have had to adapt to 2-3 different models but the quality and comfort is always there.

Burgos to Santiago including San Salvador & Primitivo

Walking the Meseta last year from Burgos to Astorga was the best Camino experience I have ever had, the calm, the quiet, the ability to go inwards and to really get close to the land that god created made a great impression on me. Enjoy your time there it is very special. Been Camino

    Bus from Madrid to Burgos

Absolutely make reservations, I did the same Camino as you starting in Burgos. Be aware that you need to watch carefully for your bus at T4 as the buses do get into a jumble as the airport departures get busy.

    Advice on skipping Meseta

I just finished the Meseta in June and enjoyed it immensely, it is flat, forgiving and a great opportunity to discover sides of oneself that lay hidden. Consider it your go to place as it will be kind to your knees and if done with common sense will give you great joy and satisfaction.

    Newbie here

You will be walking the busiest portion of the Camino during one of the busiest months. Book ahead based upon what you feel you will be able to achieve daily. Then feeling secure enjoy yourself.

Dr. Scholls, “HEAVY DUTY” gel soles work best for me for past 3 Caminos, very comfortable.

"Buff" question for native English speakers

The words neck warmer describe the technology not the brand or trademark, use the descriptive “neck warmer” and don’t worry about trademark infringement. Just because someone uses the words in the internet or as an URL does not mean it is trademarked. Neck Warmer, there you go!!

    Lisbon or Porto?

I did Porto to Santiago last year, beautiful trek, cobblestones were not an issue nor was too much road walking. The Coastal route is the way to go. Buon Camino
