Food on La Meseta beyond abysmal

Can't say I have ever felt disappointed in my dinner while on camino. Usually I am very hungry and I enjoy what I am given. It's cheaper and perhaps different to what I am used to back home, I have always walked in busy times towards start of Sept and into October I didn't have many...

Guide books - are they worth it?

I like a physical copy and my piece of dead tree never needs charging. YMMV tho each to their own, there is no definitive answer just subjectivity, I just happen to try and get away from screen time while on Camino

IMHO most people would benefit walking a camino. Crowds are most places, home and abroad and I have always set off on my own , not always been on my own all the time. Shoes on the CF

Be fine in trail runners imo. I have used them and coped well and have also walked twice in normal runners. Not sure they would do as well in very wet but they always dried well as long as your footwear is comfortable, you should be ok with any choice

Where do ( did ) you walk locally in 2024?

not sure will investigate. From me it would be the South Downs Way to Winchester and the Downs link does cross the South Downs way nearer my end. Yes both Downs look wonderful in the frost St Swithuns way goes from Winchester to Farnham. Might have to look into that 1 more as it's not too far...
