    Albergue in Vigo

I guess I'll be staying in a hotel. I don't really have the option to skip Vigo, unfortunately, as I'm not boarding a bus, car, etc. until my walk is complete. I don't really care about stamps as I walk in the "wrong" direction - to Porto.

    Albergue in Vigo

    Thanks! That's super weird.

    Albergue in Vigo

Anybody knows of an albergue in Vigo that's open now? I can't find anything and I'll be there in 2 days.

Winter walk on the camino frances

In EU we have an insurance card. Private insurance document (paper and photo) should be with you if you have that. Finally, insurance can be sorted out AFTER medical help is rendered in case of emergency. After all, insurance is just dealing with money.

    No pilgrims for 3 days

Well, start now! I can testify it is NOT crowded over here...

    No pilgrims for 3 days

I'm doing my pilgrimage on the CF right now (photos and a diary later). From Pamplona we had a group of 12-15 people meeting at the same albergues. I haven't seen a single pilgrim since I left Estela. That's 3 days ago. I don't mind staying all by myself in an albergue (El Cantaro in Navarrete...

How to lock a top loader?

I'm going to rig my backpack with a car alarm, firecrackers and air horns. Good luck to the poor souls sharing an albergue with me. :D
  8. Samarkand

How to lock a top loader?

Fair enough. The backpack has a drawstring top underneath the lid. Tie the drawstring well enough. Potential thieves would either have to cut it or spend time untying it.

How to lock a top loader?

I don't think thieves will be interested in your jackets and chargers. They want things they can sell fast and easy for cash. Things like... cash, jewelry, electronics. They know these have value. You jacket, on the other hand, it will be a pain to sell. BTW, I also have the same backpack.

    Minimal luggage?

In just two days I'll start walking for a winter camino. My entire pack is 30L. If I lose the sleeping bag and a few winter-specific items, I can fit all of it in 20L.

    Where are the members from?

Sofia, Bulgaria. A quick airplane jump from Spain.

    Thanks!

    Hospitalera now in Ponferrada

That looks awesome! That's San Nicolas de Flue, right? I should be in Ponferrada about this time next month.

    Timing

A related question. So I bought a train ticket from Atocha to Pamplona online. How exactly do I get on the free shuttle feom MAD? Do I enter the "CombinadoCercanias" code in the machine and it prints me a ticket?

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2019

Did a 30km mountain hike. It took me 11 hours (including 1 hour on the peak) to go up and then down 1300m. It was an awesome and beautiful walk, on which trekking poles did a miracle for my stability and knees, particularly downhill. Now, I still fell twice on a steep section of the icy trail...

Winter walk on the camino frances

I'll start walking from Pamplona in just 10 days. I hope I can post updates with photos. Buen Camino!

Winter CF 2018 Photos and a Merry Christmas

I'm not Darby, but I want to give my 2 cents about gaiter and walking through snow anyway. I did a couple of hikes through deep snow (up to 0.5m/almost 2ft) and a Gore-Tex shoe + a knee-high gaiter kept my feet dry the entire time. The gaiter keeps the snow from entering from the top of the shoe...

Winter CF 2018 Photos and a Merry Christmas

I'll do almost the same trip in 2019 as you did then. I'll start walking on Jan 14.

    My all-season packing list

Ah, got it. This js my 4-seasons list. I assume if I walk in March I'll leave the sweater, one long-sleeve shirt, the 2nd pair of gloves, and a few other smaller things.

    My all-season packing list

Ehh, I don't know. All the "extra" clothing weights a total of 2-3lbs. I guess it's the price to pay to travel clean, comfortable and be ready even for a blizzard.
