    Busy? I’m alone at Luquin.

Luquin is a lovely little village with a nice albergue, I think most people miss it because they go the other way through Villamayor.

SJPDP pilgrim office statistics - January to June 2024

That about a third of people starting in SJPP don't finish in Santiago isn't really surprising. Quite a lot of people don't walk the whole way, for various reasons. I would have thought this figure would be higher but then again some people don't go to the Pilgrims Office in SJPP so maybe that...

    River walk into Burgos

There are two routes when entering Burgos. They divide after Orbaneja, after crossing over a motorway where you'll see houses and recycling containers on the left. The right route (10.9km from where they divide) has little shade and passes through Villafría (cafés) and an seemingly endless...

    Crowd Stuff

Random pilgrim: "I chose the Via de la Plata because of the unbelievable overcrowding of the Camino Frances." Me: "OK, so when did you walk the Camino Frances last?" Random pilgrim: "Well, actually I've never walked it. But I've read about it online!" You wouldn't believe how many times I've...

Returning to CF after 6 years, anything new I must take into account?

Electric bikes. You're walking up a hill, you see them 100m behind you. You think you've got a minute or two before they catch up. Ten seconds later they're there.

Mary Catherine Kimpton memorial gone? Help? (before Estella)

It was still there about 3 years ago when I saw it but it's no longer on the route of the Camino, it's off to the left where people used to cross the road, now we use the underpass. At least that's my recollection.

How busy are July and August usually?

The summertime is the best time to walk the Camino Frances before Sarria. I try to do some of it every summer. If you hit Sarria mid-week you avoid most of the crowds on the last 100km.

Accommodation Availability on Camino Frances After Burgos? (week of May 1, 2023)

There are lots of albergues that don't take reservations and, as other people on here are saying, they're not full. Maybe you should consider changing strategy?

    Albergue Emaus in Burgos —CLOSED

They have Credenciales in the municipal albergue, probably also the cathedral, but I would try to albergue first. Burgos is a big pilgrim city so I don't think getting a Credencial will be a problem.
