Urgent question - is the botafumeiro currently operating?

We attended Mass on Friday 2 and Sunday 4 June where the Botafumeiro was used. This was the same weekend as the enthronement of the new archbishop...which probably helped. I hope you have a great walk into Santiago tomorrow Buen Camino

    Just arrived in Ferrol

Buen Camino "Sprinto"... looking forward to our own Inglés, with The St. James' Way from Reading to Southampton over three weekends; followed by A Coruña to Santiago de Compostela, at the end of May 😁

    Viana

I haven't stopped overnight in Logroño, but Viana was beautiful. Also, the resting place of Cesare Borgia...what a piece of history! Lovely town. Might depend if you prefer big city or compact town.

Best Toe Sock Liners for Hiking: Comparing Injini Coolmax and Nuwool Liners with Smartwool Merino Socks

Have used the Injini Coolmax for about the last 5 years, both on Camino and walking in UK. Never had a blister since using them. I do also use Gehwol, which comes highly recommended. Buen Camino

Camino from A Coruña, starting "somewhere else" - have you done it?

Delighted to read this. I'm looking to do the St. James' Way from Reading to Southampton and then walking the Inglés from A Coruña in 2023 (hopefully). Was a little concerned as to whether it would qualify as I'm going with someone who has not yet walked a Camino and would want the Compostela...

Belorado to maybe Sarria: itinerary ideas?

Regarding the place in Hornillos - this thread has some info. https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/all-the-ways-that-the-movie-%E2%80%9Cthe-way%E2%80%9D-was-spot-on.55605/reply?quote=623125

    The queues in Santiago

I imagine the parable of the workers in the vineyard (Matthew 20:1–16) is apposite here?

    CF May 2021

We had to postpone our Eastertide last leg of the Frances last year from Sarria. We'd spent the last four years completing sections from SJPP. There is a real hunger to complete our pilgrimage, however, the safety of those who live in the Camino has to be the priority. We rebooked for...

    Veterans... who walked first?

I'm only a part-time, and only recently walking the Camino. However, I was hooked in the late 90s when my mum bought me Paulo Coelho's The Pilgrimage. Lately, though, I have been looking for more descriptive than fictional accounts. I found this fascinating book in Barter Books in Alnwick...

Anyone have a favourite British Pilgrimage?

My son and I completed the Peak Pilgrimage this summer. A nice little walk (took us 3 days) through some beautiful Derbyshire countryside. Booklet available with stamps in each church along the way, finishing in the village of Eyam; known as the village that succumbed to the plague. Details...

Help Albergue Santa Cruz in Sahagun

Stayed here in April 2018. Just the sort of place and welcome that oozes Camino spirit. I hope my small donation, alongside the many already done, and the ones to come, will keep Father Daniel and co in business.

The Camino does NOT start in StJpdP - discuss

The first time I became aware of the Camino was from reading Paulo Coelho's book, " The Pilgrimage", in about 1998. It had a profound impact on me, particularly in my faith journey. It became an ambition to follow The Road, just as Coelho's character had. He started from...

    Keen sandals and orthotic insoles

Regarding keeping insoles in place in sandals - I bought some double sided sticky squares from a stationery shop - keeps them in place good and proper! However, my sandals always seem to break at same point. Would be interested to hear opinions on the most robust sandals that one can actually...
