2021 is my 50th Birthday year, so what better way to celebrate than to join the Camino once more! At the moment, I am deciding which route to take. We will have to go during the school summer holidays and yes we would love to get there for the 25th July - before you say it, I am aware what a...
Well done! It would be great to hear a more detailed account of your journey. I bet you did find it quite warm! How did all the accommodation work out?
Yes my favourite! When we lived in the UK it was very difficult to find, now living in Spain I am spoilt for choice - as sadly we are probably leaving in Summer, I am beginning to stockpile! If you want a delicious red try Rectoral de Amandi from the Ribeira Sacra region. For food obviously...
Hi Sophie! @Altheoptimist is quite correct we did walk over Easter and this is probably the reason why the Albergues were full. We arrived in Santiago on Easter Monday and it was quite noticeable how quiet it was as all the (mainly Spanish) pilgrims who had been dashing to get there for the...
Have a good pilgrimage and wrap up well. We walked during Holy Week and went from suffering heat exhaustion to nearly being drowned by the rain and blown over by the wind - such are the joys of Galicia! Buen Camino!
I am not sure if this has been mentioned on here but there is a Bar in Bruma which serves food. It is called the Casa Grana and is between the Albergue and church at the end of the village on the left hand side of the Camino.
It is not mentioned in the current edition of JW's guide so came as a...
This place appeared as if a 'mirage' on our Camino during Holy Week! On this particular day it was so hot (I later suffered from terrible heat exhaustion after foolishly not bringing a hat!) and we were in desperate need of cold fizzy drink! It is not mentioned in JW's guide so it came as a...
We were there two weeks ago. Made sure we were first there as the Camino was so busy during Holy Week. There is a wonderful cafe just down the road serving fantastic milk shakes and ice-cream!
We were here on Good Friday and it provided a good moment of reflection. There were a lot more stones if I remember correctly, perhaps from all the Holy Week pilgrims.
Ha, how could we forget this place. It was so hot this day and we were actually talking to each other about how we were dreaming of having a ice-cold 'Fanta Limon' - then this place (which was not in JW's guide) just appeared as in a mirage! Suffice to say many 'Limons' were drunk and a lovely...
We just walked the Camino Ingles with my family accompanied by our 3 Iphones, an IPad and a Samsung Tablet! Although we only stayed in two (full) Albergues there was never a problem sharing the sockets. We also when we stopped for breakfast etc. tried to find tables next to sockets and nobody...
Are you planning to stay in Hotel or Albergues? It was not that cold in the evening unless you have been walking in the wind and rain all day and can't get your things dry!! I am afraid I am not the best person to ask regarding clothing etc. I stupidly walked in brand new boots bought the day...
I am with everyone else, just stick with the Ferrol to Santiago way. We returned last week - It took us 9 days but we took our two children and both my wife and I are a little too much top heavy!! Be also prepared for some pretty nasty weather, which may slow you down. For about 5 days of our...
Forgot to mention but at Ferrol we stayed at the Hotel Suizo, with interconnecting rooms. From there it is just a walked down the hill to the starting point - well it should of been - we decided to find a bread shop for supplies for the day ahead and got completely lost! As we are English and...
Easy yes, but not much fun in the torrential rain and storm force winds which we experienced that day. The man from Meson do Vento did offer to take us to the actual Camino, I stupidly refused!!
