I can report that it has worked wonders as far as soothing the itch, and discomfort with "sun poisoning", as does Epson salts bath soak. I have used it and so has my family.

Every morning is different. Some places have a restaurant that opens for morning walkers, some places have a coffee machine (better than it sounds), sometimes there is nothing at all and you have to walk a while until an open bar for your first cafe con leche. You will adjust to it, no worries.
My second Camino, I walked the Camino de Madrid, the CF from Sahagun to Astorga (bused to Santiago) then the Camino Finisterre and Muxia. A month in total. It worked for me.
I walked 2013 & 2014 September to mid October. Only a few days of rain, very dry. Needed my light weight fleece jacket some mornings toward the end.
