If you arrive on a Monday there is a very good market with local products. Also, a shorter walking day into SJPDP gives you a good afternoon and evening to explore without being too tired. Or you could book albergue Orrison or Borda, 9/10km for the next day and take your time leaving SJPDP and...
Hi, I met 2 from Hawaii on the Dingle Way, Kerry, Ireland this morning enjoying fab scenery and weather. A little away from your track in León!
Buen camino!
2 nights, ago I stayed at San Lorenzo hostal. I can't recommend it enough for a single, double or triple room in Najéra. Great hosts, good breakfast. High quality bed linen and towels. In the old town almost on the camino.
Best wishes on your 1st camino. I'd suggest gloves like liner gloves and a neck cowl. Easy to put on and take off. Don't duplicate scarves and cowls to avoid unnecessary weight.
Hi all, the lunch stop in Artieda was excellent, ok it was a climb up the hill but the views were worth the extra metres. Ruesta, I didn't book dinner or breakfast until checking in. Dinner was good served by very friendly staff, breakfast was left out so we could eat and leave at whatever time...
Hi, I'm arriving in Bilbao at 15.30hrs mid April to walk from Logroño onwards. There is one train around 15.30hrs. Álava bus company shows a schedule with a 16hr and 17hr bus from Bilbao intermodal line 17. I don't seem to find a way to ensure a seat by online booking. Any suggestions grateful...
I stayed in the dorm, 4 beds, great partitions ensure privacy.Funny, I also spent time looking at the stars in a bright night sky! Very modern, top class would love to stay again.
Arrive in the morning or midday to SJPDP, soak on the atmosphere, then after one night walk to Orrison or 1km further to Borda to relax and fully enjoy the trek over the Pyrinees. I've stayed in both, Borda last Oct, highly recommend, booking essential. You get a lovely start next morning high...
If you want comfort for the first night, hotel Central is in a good location, very nice hotel. Gîte accommodation mostly on rue de la Citadelle offers a more authentic experience. Depends on what way you prefer to start. Buen camino.
It depends on which path you choose, there is probably more planning involved. Hostels are fewer but there are guest house style accommodation or hotels.
Yes, I have done numerous pilgrim ways in Ireland, qualifying me for a Celtic Compostela, (any recognised route of at least 25km). I then walked from A Coruña, camino Inglés, 75km to Santiago de Compostela and got a compostela there. I also walked the camino Inglés from Ferrol, (110km approx)...
