    Opposite direction!!

    Probably best downloading one of the many apps that provide a map of the route/s, and then you can just GPS it when stuck.. Otherwise you can probably tell the route in reverse by the apparently relentless number of pilgrims heading towards you.

    Well, if you were to locate a chalk stream with a pristine gravel bed in Sussex you will probably find him camouflaged in a nearby bush (otherwise check The Royal Oak).

    Thank you - yes so beautiful, and the steep climb up is well worth it. Photos are just with my phone camera, a bit hit and miss but some worked out well.

    The Stones Precious cargo. One for someone no longer here, one for someone left behind, and one for me. Carried from a beach in Jersey to a mountain somewhere in beautiful Spain.

    Yes a really beautiful walk, and I can only imagine much prettier than the main route which i understand follows the road. You're right though, the initial climb up is very steep. I'm guessing you stayed in Cacabelos the same as us which is about 10k? We also took the off road route from there...

    Whatever you choose try to take the higher Pradela variant from Villafrance del B - it's beautiful. If you change your plans then there is a wonderful little Albergue in Pradela which must be a magical place to stay.

    @Peterexpatkiwi idea is an excellent one, and one that I am sure would give your friend a wonderful full Camino experience. Otherwise I think the first two weeks of the Frances from St JPdP is hard to beat.
