I will be part of the class of 2020 as well. This time I will be walking the Primitivo Route starting in mid-July with my niece. I am hoping it isn't too hot. When I walked the Camino Frances in 2016, it was spring and much cooler. I am in the process of trying to figure out alternative...
I lost about 20 pounds on the Camino. I noticed that I don't eat as much when I walk every day. I ate when my body told me to eat. I also cannot eat gluten, so that could have played a part in losing weight as well. I took about the same amount of time on my Camino (30 days). I didn't...
I remember contributing to this topic before my Camino. I made out my special playlist etc. After I started walking, I preferred listening to the sound of the wind, the bells on the animals, and my footsteps to my iPod. I ended up shipping my iPod ahead early on and I never regretted it.
I posted things to Ivar from Pamplona to Santiago back in April 2016. We ended up using a cardboard box from the post office (which is right in the center of town). I ended up using my duffle bag that holds my backpack for flying to put things in and then put it in a cardboard box to ship...
I walked this section mid-May in 2016. It was probably one of my most favorite and memorable sections along the Camino. Not because of the stunning views, but because of the people who became my family during that time. I stayed at the most interesting albergues through that section too. I...
I want to see it also. It was a great film about friendship, disabilities, and the camino family. It really brought back memories of my own camino. It is worth taking the time to watch it.
I used my cell phone to take photos, so my external hard drive (Sandisk) was a lifesaver. It connected to my cell phone wirelessly which allowed me to dump my photos onto it daily.

Another cell phone related gadget was my Mophie. It...
From Burgos to Leon was one of my favorite sections. If you are worried about it being boring and flat, then look at the "roads less traveled" for this section. You can walk near rivers if you would like. One of the first days out of Burgos was NOT flat. Those who have walked probably know...
I used a Lush Shampoo Bar for everything until about half way. Then, I lost my Lush bar. I found a three in one travel soap that I found at a sporting goods store in Spain and used that afterwards.
It is probably not going to help much because this is a personal choice. This is what I actually did on my own camino.
I had similar ideas with washing clothes with proper soap etc. In reality, you do not want to carry anything extra. It saves time and money if you just use the same soap...
I can totally relate. I came home from my Camino in early June only to have surgery a few days later. It was pre-planned that way, but to go from being in motion every day to sitting still to recover was VERY hard. I didn't know how hard it would be. I hope you are able to recover quickly...
Go. It sounds like the Camino is calling you. You will not be the only 18 year old walking the Camino. I met a few who just graduated high school and were doing the camino during their gap year before they started college. Wishing you all the best.
Buen Camino !
She could still do the ensalata mixita. Just don't forget to say "sin atun" (no tuna). I had a friend with me on the camino who didn't like the tuna either (or any fish).
I walked the Camino Frances April - June 2016 with a gluten free diet. I made cards and laminated them. I printed them from this site: http://www.celiactravel.com/cards/spanish/ While on the camino, I lost my card. I had to learn to communicate my needs to them early on. "Sin Gluten" is...
You don't really need a guidebook. But if you want to look at interesting facts or alternate routes it may come in handy. I did not bring one on my camino and I was fine. There are PLENTY of other pilgrims that carry around a guidebook. (and they will share it .....and you won't have to...
