    How to post a photo?

I think you mean a private conversation message. If that's correct, only donating members have access to the attachment feature in a private conversation. All members can attach photos in public threads, though.

Detailed Planning for Viejo/Olvidado from Pamplona

Not to derail the thread, but @WestKirsty, you know your Viejo fans would love to follow along on the Lebaniego! You know how to pick your caminos, girl!

Detailed Planning for Viejo/Olvidado from Pamplona

I just saw that the phone numbers for visiting the church are the same as the phone numbers for Arte y Natura. Maybe these guys are the owners. How in the world did this get into private ownership anyway????

Detailed Planning for Viejo/Olvidado from Pamplona

We already know that San Pedro de la Tejada, near Quintana de Valdivielso, is owned privately, and that you have to reserve 48 hours ahead of time to see it. My question is about the fencing. Google reviews repeatedly complain about a fence that keeps people away from visiting the exterior...

Detailed Planning for Viejo/Olvidado from Pamplona

Thanks. I was confused because there are also tracks that stay on the south of the Ebro the whole time. https://www.wikiloc.com/hiking-trails/etapa-11-banos-de-sobron-miranda-de-ebro-38485121 This track on the south shows a dolmen, too — this area is really chock full of dolmens!

Detailed Planning for Viejo/Olvidado from Pamplona

Caminka, I am looking at your tracks for the Viejo. Did you walk both the route on the north of the river and the route south of the river for the stage between Miranda de Duero and Baños de Sobrón? Your comment talks about the south path, but these tracks are on the north, right...

    Luggage Storage pricing question....

This thread is from last year, and Ivar’s current prices are on the website: https://casaivar.com/luggage-services-in-santiago-de-compostela/ You should contact the store directly if you would like to establish communication with Ivar. luggage@casaivar.com

One week Camino del norte - start from Bilbao or Santander?

If you walk from Santander, I would highly recommend the coastal alternative instead of the mostly asphalt official stage that goes alongside a long pipeline for kms and past some pretty heavy industry. It’s a beautiful walk and people have both walked it in one day (Santander to Boo) or broken...

    Arrived from Camino Lebaniego (June/24)

I was confused for a minute, because I was sure that I hadn’t used a GPS when I walked the Lebaniego/Vadiniense. I know that for sure because I got royally lost and wound up sliding down through a lot of maleza and shredded my pants. I got a GPS soon after. But. looking at the date of the...

    Invierno Planning Questions 2024

Not recommended is not the same as prohibited. 🤣 Reminds me of an experience I had in Portugal. There were a lot of cars parked outside a big shopping mall and it was unclear to me whether parking was allowed or not. I asked the policeman nearby and his response was “Não está nem prohibido...

    Arrived from Camino Lebaniego (June/24)

I walked the Lebañiego before I started using a GPS, and getting lost on the way into Lebeña was one of the main reasons I started using one! This was years ago, before the route through Cades was marked, so there was a LOT of road walking at the beginning. I agree that those days are gorgeous...

Monasterio de Zamartze has pilgrim accommodations!

I had a long wait in a doctor’s office today and spent some time googling around to find out more about the many churches in the mountains around here. OMG, there is quite a legend associated with the church of San Miguel de Aralar! It involves the Basajuan, the Navarran mythological creature I...

BP on the Catalán, June-July 2024

I first walked the Olvidado in 2014, and we never had a problem getting accommodation way back then. I think the situation has improved since then. Adolfo in Nava de Ordunte was extremely helpful, and he now has an albergue in his garage, I believe. BP, for a hard-core remote camino walker like...

    Invierno Planning Questions 2024

I think you are talking about the visitors center and not the museum. The visitors center is very close to Hotel Rural Agoga. I agree that it doesn’t have much (but they do have a sello!). I have always written about how much I liked the museum located at the entrance to town — near the...

    Invierno Planning Questions 2024

I don’t think it’s actually that much longer, but it does have a descent that can be tricky in wet weather. And if you are on the blue trail (I’m referring to the Médulas map I posted, incorrectly oriented as it may be), you will go right by the Mirador de las Pedrices, which is not as...

    Invierno Planning Questions 2024

That was my experience as well. She was happy to pick up the key and walk the 10 m to open the door of the church, which has an entrance directly from the albergue. There is a hospitalera in Diomondi every day from 1 pm till maybe as late as 10 pm, I believe, and I would imagine they welcome...

Monasterio de Zamartze has pilgrim accommodations!

My idea is to walk to Zamartze, drop my pack and take the loop up to San Miguel and back down to sleep in Zamartze. Given that from Hiriberri to Zamartze is pretty flat, I think the 800 m ascent to San Miguel would be do-able for me, provided that I do not wait too many years! Does that seem...

An old variant of the Ignaciano

I have learned that this is called “link rot.” Seems to be a huge phenomenon. Wikipedia has links to a lot of studies that have tried to quantify it. All of those links are currently active. :D p.s. I have moved the Ignaciano discussion out of Paulo’s Viejo thread and created a separate...

    Invierno Planning Questions 2024

I’m trying to keep track, and I think this is now the fourth option. 1. standard camino from Borrenes 2. alternative from Borrenes up to Mirador 3. alternative from Cornatel Castle through La Chana to Mirador 4. Villavieja to Paradela to Mirador It may seem confusing from afar, but when you’re...
