I would just add that if you are heavy a mid boot will provide some torsional strength to the sole as the way is a bit rocky in many places. A nice gel insole helps as well:) but remember to buy a size or two bigger if that's the case:)
For what it's worth I did the CF to Fisterra last autumn with a Osprey Talon 33. The pack was on its limit volume wise the whole way but I felt it was perfect for me. I carried probably 10kgs with full water load at most and there should be no need to carry more than this on the CF unless you...
Well I always wear 2 pairs of socks to avoid blisters forming. A thin coolmax or tights cut off at the foot and then a merino wool sock of whatever thickness suits the temperature. Works for me. ....but everyone is different:)
Some people need routines, some need someone to tell them what to do and the rest decide what is needed according to a potentially constantly changing situation.
15kgs is quite a lot. I carried about 12kgs with water....have a think and see what you xan leave behind.....? Don't worry though as you walk you will see what you don't need and you can post those things to yourself in Santiago - the office will keep them there for you:) buen camino!
I had a 33l Talon and loved it on the Camino to Finisterre. It held just enough and I reckon I carried around 11-12kgs max with water and food.
BUT PLEASE NOTE
This pack is not a pack for carrying heavy loads. I personally think that 11-12kgs is near to the comfortable limit for some people...
I used karrimor dry waterproof sacks and they have the added advantage of being compression sacks so your stuff takes up much less space. I did the camino with a 33l rucksack so this was a great bonus.
I am not "reaming" anyone. This would be feedback as already stated.
People hear/read what they want to I guess. Let me know if you know anything else about my needs from behind the keyboard. ;)
Feedback is important in life. They are hopefully not aware how they made this young chap feel. These were mature adults (at least in years), not kids. I am not looking for conflict, but sometimes you have to care enough to do something. If I saw your wallet being stolen should I let it happen...
You don't need a sleeping bag at this time of year in any case unless you are planning to sleep outside.
On the subject of bedbugs I encountered them for the first time about 10 days ago and have had no new bites since then. Unless you react really badly to them just think of them as...
This is true only if you are not heavy. I was 108kgs when I started and my hiking shoes were wholly inadequate in providing support and shock absorption. I purchased new boots in logrono and never looked back after 9 days of agony. Good socks can stop rubbing but not impact blisters.
Good luck
I have a 33 litre pack that weighs under 900grams, i would try to get the best balance between space and weight - for me 33 litres seems ok or just slightly tight on space potentially.
Buen Camino
Not having a way to communicate with your family makes you clear minded? Do you only see things from your own perspective most of the time?
I am taking a career break and have not even booked a return flight so my mind should be fine thanks even whilst carrying a smartphone:)
Thanks for your...
