Thanks for your post. I am planning for the Via Podiensis late april/first may 2020, and is a little consern about the accommodation sit. My guidebook says as you, that if you are walking alone there should not be a problem. On the other hand someware in this thread say that always to book ahead...
Very thanks for your response.
The lonelyness in my pilgrimage don't scare. I walked the most of my caminos alone - last the VDlP to Astorga.
Only thing that could be an issue is my lack of french speaking.
On the other hand I got a wintertime to learn suvivalfrench.
U would like to start late...
I usely walk my pilgrimages alone (allways) find some compagnion on the way for a couples of days og just a day. It never seems as a struggle in spain.
Knowing you have been on Le puy twice do you have any advise og pro/con about connection without knowing the french language?????

Thanks for your report.
Just wonder about two things:
1. My french is like absolutly zero. In spain I manages in citys in english, and in contrysides danish (believe it or not)/english and it seems to work for me. BUT ny experience is that frenchmen don't like to speak english - even they...
Thanks a lot for your info. And kind of interesting does the info not mentioned walking poles.
And saying that it also is kind of interesting that in the AENA's rules for airport security gives the staff oppotunity to check if the walking poles is a wapon or not. If i.e. you take of the sharp...

In Santiago airport - I've never seen this elsewhere - there is a notice just before you enter the security screening area that says that they regard walking poles as objects with a sharp point and/or as blunt objects that can be used for hitting and injuring another person. I think the...
Funny enough. I travel several times to caminos and aldo throug Stansted UK.
And infact I asked the security in UK and they respond that there was no problem.
On the other hand I saw a note somewhere in Casa forum that EU made a rule that walkingsticks in fact is to be allowed.
I traveled 7...
A very nice story about doing the camino or not.
I do think you have a very lovely and understanding wife. She expect to get a more glad and smiling husband home from your camino.
Happy trail from me.
Also thanks for the info's from me it rearly helps me in planing my pilgrimage. And maybe it's not the right place, but the question about booking accomodations along the trail still standing.
Some guides advice to book and others advice not to giving that you are a solopilgrim.
Could you...
Francois did you take the sharp hard metal point off???
You see excatly that is the question.
If you dont they are not accepted - if you did no problem. As long as they are Inside your backpack and are under the critical 55cms
Yes walking sticks alway seems to be a issue for a lot of pilgrims in carry-on bagage.
It is not the sticks that is the consern, it is when they outside and not collapsed. AND if they still have this hard metal points.
Now - if they hard metal points has been REMOVED it is not an...
It's a kind of person to person question. Everybody have ones own idea. For my Part I'am allways using leatherboots and Merino socks. Same boots summer or winther.
I started to walk caminos back in 2015 (at that time I was 68) and walked several caminos since then. i.e. Camino Portogues 2016, Some of the Jacobi in Zweitzerland 2017, Camino Ingles 2017, Via de la Plata 2018.
As for now I am planing a pilgrimage Le Puy - Santiago in 2019 just after my 72...
