Yay on getting a permit date! :)
Enjoy the adventure!!!!

“Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?”
PCT Class of 2018 😎
P.S. for those interested:
Hikers can successfully complete the trail without getting a PCT permit from the Mexican border. It is just more hassle to register for...
I like using this style of selfie stick. The remotes don’t use batteries (charge with usb).
The tripod feature is nice for watching videos and video chatting.
Sometimes I go days without using it. Too hot, tired, or in a rush!
However - when walking solo I always have the option to grab a...
It’s been four years (!) but my Las Medulas day was the highlight of the Inverino.
I have not walked the official Camino way, but can 100% recommend this alternative. The forest walk with the towering red cliffs was very memorable.
The hiking paths from the Mirador to the town are on the...
I walked in 2022 and Oliva’s hostel was an awesome base for a few days (very close to train station). Highly recommend!
Olivita Hostel
I tented a few nights because there were no budget accommodations. (Or any accommodation options 😆)
I made a created a YouTube Video during my hike in July...
LOL! I’ve been wearing the same purple shirt since 2017 on Caminos and long-distance trails.
It really makes me recognizable- as the Canadian with the purple shirt. Especially when I hop on/off on the Camino Frances. :)
I’ve replaced it a few times when the holes became impossible to repair.
Good to know for the Camino Complutense (as I haven't walked it yet!).
My second comment is unrelated to the Complutense -- directed to other lesser know routes I've walked. Sorry for the confusion.
For example the Camino Lebaniego Castellano from Palencia had a serious lack of accommodation...
Hello, you will go through customs in Paris as it is the first point of entry in the EU.
Your second flight is a domestic one, and will probably leave from a different terminal.
Camino de Madrid does not have the highest point in Spain… :)
The nearby Camino Complutense has a higher pass at Puerto del Reventon (2039m). I haven’t walked yet, I’ve almost got over there a few times. It will happen this year or next. :)
Oh - and for truly wild/less travelled routes...
Hello,
I'm heading on this route soon-ish, but taking my tent. :)
An alternative from Palencia is to stop walking the Camino at La Venta (near Acueducto de Valdemudo), Then follow a the P-990 road for 5-6km to Monzon de Campos. There a a couple accommodation options (pricey).
Maybe you...
Hop on the road at Montuerto. Follow road to the waterfall trailhead. Visit the narrow gorge and get cooled off by the refreshing spray 😃.
Continue on the road a short bit to reconnect with the Camino in Nocedo de Curueño.
Adds less than a kilometer. :)
Here is a website about it...
I took a little peek- the route goes very very very close to Cascada de Nocedo. It was part of the San Froilan Ermita detour I devised on my 2022 Olvidado. The waterfall is definitely worth a visit!
Has anyone figured out accommodation options for the end of Ender’s stages (without...
@Bad Pilgrim what a delightful account of your Olvidado adventures!
Brings back so many memories! :)
And nightmares - the FLIES!!!!!!!!! Worst flies I've ever encountered in Spain.
Late to reply, but last summer I walked the Olvidado and connected on the Frances to the Via Kunig.
I did not meet any pilgrims on the Via Kunig so it was a nice quiet route up to Lugo.
I will have videos of the Via Kunig up on my YouTube channel eventually - but I need to finish the Olvidado...
I stayed with her a few days ago. Laura is the best! She has some really funny stories from her years on the Camino. Plus the restaurant she works at in Riello has an incredible Menu! ❤️
I arrived in Santiago yesterday. I did not go get a Compostela - and some other pilgrims I met along the way also did not either. So the number of pilgrim arrivals were higher. The lineup was LONG yesterday!!! 😊
I carried my tent the entire Camino Frances to save the postage fees. I needed it for my adventures after that Camino. I’m on the Camino del Mar now. I have used it one night so far. One night since walking on June 2nd! :)
