In the albergue in Zamora there was a bathroom in our room. We had 3 sets of bunks in our room, so the bathroom was shared between the 6 of us. I think it was similar in the other rooms. There wasn’t a park next to it that I remember.
Hi Robo. We started on the 15th April. The weather was fairly good for the whole trip.It was warm in Sevilla when we started. However, it was cooler to the north in the mountainous areas later on our journey. Earlier in spring would be too wet in my opinion.
We took 41 days. That included a...
We started walking on 15th April, 2017. We experienced 4 nights of Semana Santa in Sevilla and left on Easter Saturday. Semana Santa in Sevilla is amazing and an experience that I will never forget.
I did notice there were taxi signs in many of the albergues so I think your chances of using taxis for bag transport would be fine. My brother-in-law had severe blisters on his feet by the time we arrived in Zamora so arranged taxis at each albergue he stayed in for 5 days till his feet healed...
Walked the VDLP last year starting in April. It was a fantastic experience. The weather was great, there were just enough pilgrims - in fact too many in some albergues! So, I would say do it!
You can catch the tourist train from Plaza Mayor in Ourense, across to the free baths along the river. It is about 1€ for the train. There are stops at 3 different sets of baths. We went to the second lot. They were very hot!!
The albergue at Castro Dozon is lovely. You can stay in rooms with...
It's a good idea to bring swimmers as there are Roman baths you can go in at Ourense and Banos de Montamayor. Also, several albergues have swimming pools. A very nice way to cool down.
We had 4 days in Sevilla for Semana Santa and started walking on Easter Saturday(15th April). The weather was hot to begin. There were quite a few pilgrims and the albergues were usually full or nearly full.
We loved this route. At this time of year there are wildflowers everywhere.
Alas, Hotel Simon was booked out when we were in Sevilla this year. We stayed at Hotel Zaida. Lovely staff and in a quiet area with a rooftop area to enjoy a snack or vino.
We were on the Sanabrese in May this year. The weather was good. We had some rain but the track was not too muddy. Would have been quite muddy a month earlier I think.
We were in Sevilla for Semana Santa this year. It is an amazing experience. We had 4 nights there before we started walking on Easter Saturday. Being in Sevilla at this time added to our overall enjoyment of our Camino. It is something that we would never experience back home in Australia.
