The small restaurants in the side streets of Viana do Castelo are fantastic
Most of the restaurants in the main square in Caminha are good
In Santiago de Compostela, the Parador's set menu lunch for Euro 20 was really good.
In Porto, if you want top notch, try O Paparico
We are walking the same route in June 2022 and we are doing 6 days from Porto up to Baiona, having a rest day in Baiona, and then doing 6 more days walking into Santiago de Compostela
We are doing the the coastal route from Porto as follows and we are medium fitness in our late 50s. We did the full Camino Frances in July 2017 in 33 days

We are doing the coastal route starting in early June. We plan to walk the Matosinhos and then get the metro back to Porto. The following morning we will get the metro back out to Matosinhos and then walk to Villa de Conde

We are doing the Coast route starting in early June, 6 days up to Baiona, then a days rest, and then another 6 days into SDeC. So effectively 7 days coast and 5 days inland, which after driving it all in 2019, when we stayed in Ponte de Lima for 2 weeks, feels like a good balance.
If you go...

The Coastal version is nice and flat compared to the central version or Camino Frances. So you may find this the best to start with.
Having done both ourselves, and we are doing the Coastal route starting 3 June 2020 from Portowhen we are doing 3 nights in Porto, I would suggest Porto this time. Lisbon and its surrounds are fantastic in mid-September and late May. So maybe next time.
We did the Sarria to Santiago walk with our twins in April/May 2014 when they were nearly 15 years old. They managed very well and then did the full Camino Frances from St Jean with us in June/July 2017. Regular snacks like dried fruit, nuts and muesli bars were useful.
