As a 70 year old lone female pilgrim (3 Caminos ) I agree with everything that has been said above. #15 post by Brooklinn is so good read it again and again.
The only thing I will add is you will be walking through safe areas and you will be so safe, just don't forget to switch on your awareness...
In 2022 after getting of the boat from Vilanova de Arousa I walked the 8.5 to A Escravitude and stayed at Hostel O Lagar de Jesús. which is a lovely place to stay with a great pilgrims meal. That left 18.5k for the last day. If that is to far for the last day there are plenty of places to stay...
I am also 5ft 1inch. I have the osprey tempest 30 in a small woman's size. I love this pack fully loaded it weighs just under 5kg so around 11lb. I agree with OzAnnie Take everything you want to carry with you to get your pack and make sure to get it fitted
What pushed me to buy my ticket? As a lot of others I first heard about the Camino years ago. At the time I had two very young children and limited holidays. I pushed it to the back of my mind and then forgot about it. Fast forward 35 years the kids have grown up, my husband has died and the BBC...
I will be walking this route in September with a friend. No need to book through a company it is easy to do it yourself. Look on Gronze.com they have all the information you need. From their home page click on all/other roads then click on English/Ingles.
In 2022 I also stayed at this hostel and cannot recommend it enough. It was one of the best places I stayed. The next morning I walked to Ribadumia and stayed the night there leaving a comfortable 17k walk the next day.
I feel I need to add my two pennyworth to this thread.
I walked my first Camino, CF, Roncesvalles to SDC in 2021 aged 68. I started by carrying my backpack all 5kg of it but soon decided to take advantage of the transfer service, not all of the time there were places I stayed that didn't accept...
Tincatinker has already answer your question about gronze.com there is nothing more I can add to that.
I am from the UK and will be flying Gatwick to A Coruna then will get either a bus or train to Ferrol. It has cost us £47 each one way. we will book the return a few days before.
When my...
I am walking the Ingles in September with a friend around your age. We booked our flights yesterday. We also looked at Gronze for our accommodation, as the route is getting more popular there seems to be more opening. We are splitting the stages and the longest we will walk is stage 2 (19,7k)...
Thank you all for your reply's they have all been very helpful. I hadn't thought about spending two nights in one place and getting a taxi back on day one and forward to where we left off on day two. I am now looking into this.
Hi I am planning my Camino Ingles for September 2024 I have looked at the previous threads and have found answers to some of my questions but not all,
This will be my fourth Camino and this time I will be walking with a friend. I will be 71 at the time of walking and my friend will be 78. Her...
First of all what an amazing experience you have ahead of you.
You don't have to stop at the end stages. There are lots of places to stay between stages I did this for most of the CF from Roncesvalles. I had no problems with luggage transfer and stopped in private albergues. If you are taking a...
