Hi all, just a quickie,
Has anyone else noticed that the older you get, the larger the ratio of medication: kit you carry in your rucksack? This time round it appears to be around 60% walking clothes and 40% various pills and unguents for my dodgy knees.
I'm thinking of buying a bigger...
My favourite albergue is Casa Susi in Trabadelo. It is owned and ran by an Aussie (Susi) and a Spaniard (Fermin). They met on the Camino several years back and decided to open an albergue together. They got married this year.
Being at least 14% stupider than you, I've never even heard of it! The map thing sounds good though although I think it's a bit late for me to swap platforms.. someone start a poll !! 😃
Do a blog! I'm 94% stupid and still found it relatively easy to do using WordPress.
You get a great diary of every day including photos and you get to share your experience with other people. I write mine every time I walk and really enjoy doing it.
I think I've used them 3 times out of roughly 70 days of walking.
Mine was when I knew I had a big descent and didn't fancy the weight on my knees.. another time I just felt the need for a weight free day so I could frolic if the desire took me.. personally I think it's a great idea to give...
Hi all. I hope you're all keeping well. After 12 months of being stuck inside at home I decided to dig out my old camino clothes and go for a walk.. that's where the problem manifested.. Has anyone else experienced their clothes have shrunk (or shrank.. I've mulled it over for too long and now...
When researching my first camino I heard that when starting out, many pilgrims chose sangria. Not wanting to go against tradition I got off the plane and went straight to a bar.. three sangria-soaked days later (I was averaging 3km a day) I happened to be discussing how difficult the Camino was...
I saw this and it struck a chord with me.. specifically the first sentence.. after walking with a stranger for a few hours and delighting then with my endless reserve of interesting facts, (do YOU know where the word "dashboard" originates?) I noticed that they would often begin to walk slower...
I was reading a post by someone that suggested sawing part of the handle from your toothbrush to save weight and it got me thinking..
I realised that the only part of my walking poles that I actually touch is the handles, the rest of the pole is superfluous.. I cut the rest of the poles off and...
Yeah, I'll have a look at a route (more than welcome to suggest one) and then offer it as a meet up on the Sunday. I was going to reply to the advert on FB saying that my invitation to speak must have got lost in the post but I don't think people on there are as used to my sense of humour 😛
Are you involved in the running of it? If so then please keep me in mind if someone cancels.. inviting people on the training walk sounds fun.. I guess a day walking with me would be a good taster for some aspiring pilgrims.. if they can cope with me waffling on they can cope with anything 😀
Yeah I'm a member. I can't find details of the meal in the latest post.. although I do seem to remember something about el Rincon ages ago.. or maybe it was a dream 😛
I'm planning a couple of training weekends march/April in Manchester (well, edale etc) so could hopefully come meet you all and...
I don't think I'm on mailing list.. I follow that much camino stuff I've got no idea what I'm actually subscribed to 🤣 yeah I could hopefully drive over for the meal, I'll have a look at hotels etc and get back to you. To be honest it's probably best if I don't come to the sensible bit anyway...
