Switching to Gossamer LT5 poles will immediately drop a pound from the weight. They are a little more expensive than other poles, but worth every cent.
Started in Irun on 24-September. In Gernika now and all is good. Little to no problems related to covid. Bring a mask and you'll be fine.
Headed to Bilbao tomorrow.
I've confirmed all of my accommodations along the way and look forward to the Norte/Primitivo. Arriving Irun September 23 and heading to San Sebastian on September 24. This is soooooo much needed.
Daniel, I'm doing norte in 4 weeks and have planned every stage in detail with notes on what to see and do, where to stay and where to sleep. I've even made notes on restaurants and history for each place of importance. Send me a direct message and I'll share them with you.
We have a few people starting on September 23rd in Irun. (Actually meeting up on the 23rd and hiking to San Sebastian the morning of the 24th. Anyone else starting on this day?
Definately not enough. Norte is at least 40% more expensive on a normal year and prices are all over the map since covid. I'd plan for double the cost of your previous Camino and hopefully you won't need it.
I've heard many conflicting stories about the first camino passport (or credential). Does anyone have links to books or other articles about the history of this document? When? Why? Different versions over time?
SafariGirl, Thank you for acknowledging the work I've done on this post. I wanted to figure it out for myself and then post my findings. With any open forum you will find lots of opinions and 100% of the people think they are 100% correct 100% of the time. In this case all of the people had some...
I will start in Irun on May 30 and have the same concerns, but life goes on as does the Camino. This is my fourth camino but my first time on Norte. Looking forward to the challenge and my secret weapon --- STRETCHING --
Oh my. I can walk 40k on relatively flat or even downhill but the climb out of SJPP kicked my butt. Uphill is my nemesis and I'm planning del Norte for June. I better start training for hills asap. Ugh.
