LIVE from the Camino Sitting with Mary

@Peterexpatkiwi - yes but seems that this year brought on much more "panic" posts including even "shall I abandon CF and switch to..." - something I have not seen in all 6.5 years I have been a Forum member.

WOW!!! I guess all the horror stories of end of April and well into May scared everyone away

    Albergue Peregrinos Ribadiso

Hello Well... if you are totally zeroed-in on this particular albergue anything anyone of us can tell you will be an educated guess at best. We can tell you 'not to worry" and yet when you'll arrive there could be no beds and especially for 4 people. The way I see it your options are: Perhaps...

    Help getting lodging past Sarria

@isawtman I think we slightly talking apples and oranges here although there is some common ground. Beauty,as they say, is in the eyes of beholder so whats interesting to you may not be to me and vice versa. in 2013 we spent 2 weeks on Oahu and trust you me it was not laying on the beach...

The albergues are booked because all Pilgrims are going to the concert? Including MdG 500+ bed one as well?

    Help getting lodging past Sarria

Ok...matter of personal opinion. For you obviously 4 days or less is "power through" and for me - that's "running". I walked past Sarria and stopped at Barbadello so we'll say that that's my starting way point for the mentioned 100km. I took nice relaxing 7 days to get to SdC and "powered...

LIVE from the Camino Back on the Camino: Sarria > Finisterre > Muxia

Buen Camino I loved Casa Cruceiro- got hooked with some wonderful folks and we stayed together as a Camino Family all the way to SdC and while in it. Funny thing is that while totally unplanned we all would wind up staying in the same albergue every stage we took :)

@Tincatinker - just remember if everything else fails we will always have E=mc²

    Help getting lodging past Sarria

@isawtman - I'm sorry I'm not sure I understand.... I most definitely did not power through after Sarria but I spent about 3 days in SdC proper and then took a leisurely 4 (well 3.5) day walk to Finisterre.... so IMHO it is all about the time you have and if you do - then no need to "run"...

    Portomarin to O Pedrouzo – 4 days

@jsalt well... Lestedo to Furelos (18 km) to Bebedeiro (20.5 km) to O P (14km) have not stayed there but looks like you got 3 places in Furelos (I know you are practically in Melide but still ...choices) and perhaps 1 or 2 in the Bebedeiro (looks like about 4km past Arzua)

    Portomarin to O Pedrouzo – 4 days

Hmmmm Portomarin to Lestedo - 19km - Night 1: Albergue A Calzada Lestedo to Melide - 19km - Night 2: way too many albergues to have a problem (I stayed at Albergue Melide) Melide to Arzua - 15 km (piece of cake) - Night 3: again lots of Albergues (mine was Cruce de Caminos) Arzua to O...

    Help getting lodging past Sarria

That is correct and basically applies to any plane, not just jets. Every airplane has a minimum speed at which it can fly anything less than that it stalls and "down we go" (Experienced pilot could of course recover). That's a stall speed, and they vary depending on many factors, some of which...

    Train cancelled from Bayonne?

I can now consider myself very lucky because I never got this email (else I'm more than positive I'd be just as panicky as so many other folks whos posts we have seen recently on the Forum). As it was I blissfully got off in Bayonne and was promptly shepherded to outside where the bus was...

Molinaseca to O Cebreiro stage mess up?

Villafranca del Bierzo to O Cebreiro is very doable; I actually walked past it to Linares do Rei. Stops at La Faba and OC for some grub and slight rest. While it was tough it was by no means a mess or a nightmare I'm sure you can do it. If need be get an earlier start ( IIRC I hit the road...

Last minute advice for solo traveler

...Matata - THANK YOU!) re Calling your parents - BLAH! Parents are overrated! I know. My kids never call me and they live perhaps 2-3km from me (*which in US is a joke distance-wise) Yes I did call my Mom while of Camino but only because she had this notion that I am walking in Gobi Desert with...
