If you're living in or are in Spain atm try Wallapop or Milanuncios, plenty of bikes available. Accessories, routing and all the other interesting stuff are another chapter in the book. Buen bici-camino. Richard
...some type of travel card loaded with Euros (e.g. Wise or Cash Passport). You get a better exchange rate, and they work well. A lot of Spanish ATMs are contactless so you don't have to worry about them accidentally sucking up your card. You can load more Euros at any time. Worked well for me.
In my 64 years of travel … I used my debit card 2X at bank-owned ATMs in Spain this past week to get Euros with no problem. To simplify, I change my debit card from a 6 PIN to a 4 PIN before my trip, to ensure compatibility with ATMs in Europe (from past experience).
Do change your 6 PIN to a...
I can vouch for that. No problems with ATM's, contactless transactions or pin verification transactions. My understanding is that 4 digit pins are supposed to work when entered when asked for 6 digits.
I did Portuguese route last summer - I had no issues at all using a 6 digit pin in ATM's in Portugal or Spain. I only used ATM's that were tied to big popular banks, during banking hours, just in case there was an issue. Would withdraw the money then walk up to the teller to have them break...
The restaurant will provide a lower-cost pilgrim meal if you ask and the church is free if you go to attend Mass (or one of the frequent evening concerts). This is the altar where St Ignatius of Loyola laid down his sword (now in a Barcelona church) and devoted his life to the Church. Definitely...
...situation is worth noting. I have had a Wise cash card for a while, and it has been rejected in 2 out of 4 places so far in Spain. The Santander ATM issued mostly only €50 notes using my Santander card and then in the bank itself, they wouldn't change it for smaller ones! No one in Spain like...
...to know if anyone had any success (or trouble conversely on that matter) using your Visa Debit Card with 6-digit PIN when withdrawing Euros in ATMs in France and Spain? Just want to get an update as it seems there's conflicting but no concrete resolution to this querie. Just personal...
Hello pilgrims. Just a quick heads up to potential users of this ATM machine: Grab the cash as soon as it comes out of the machine, and not moment later, or the machine retracts the bills and you're left with one big hassel to rectify the situation. Buen Camino.
Such a stressful event. I'm travelling around Australia in a van atm and just read about the storm in detail.
30,000 pieces of luggage in Dubai need to be sorted so the suggestion to buy what you need in Decathlon and start walking may be the best solution.

Bus 46 takes you from right out front of the airport to the plaza in about 30 minutes. After finding a Santander ATM for some Euros and having the first of what will be many hundreds of cafe con leches and bocodillos, I wandered aimlessly around Plaza Espanya for...
...due to everyone being on vacation. Its an interesting watch and I believe he has done a lot of research around facilities along the way from atms, water, cafes and accommodation. I have not looked at what he has done but I am sure it would be helpful:
If you write a blog or even come back...
I've stayed in Segovia before, even if it was 30 plus years ago, so that is probably where I'm going to have to save a day. Tordesillas is one of my many favourite places in Spain and I'd like to walk along the Duero for a bit. That side trip is non-negotiable for me.
Noted.
Also noted.
Thanks
Segovia is indeed a jewel. Please do take this advice and spend extra time there. We also loved Valladolid. And there we had a camino angel which was more common on the Madrid than any other camino we have walked. We got up early and went to a bus stop. A guy driving a Mercedes convertible...
...(there is a Parador there too). In Simancas, there is a hotel across a small highway as you're leaving town on the Camino (there's the rare ATM heading the same way). Hotel Pago de Olivo; standard, modern hotel, really nice, great breakfast. The restaurant Los Infantes is excellent. It might...
...grocery store to be open more than 2 hours in the morning. You probably don't want to pay €7 to withdraw cash from one of those dreadful euro net atms.
The problem, and i hope the op takes note, is the data from buen camino is incomplete - but laid out in such a way where you can say "well...
Thanks to all who replied. In the end we just walked.. we realized that would take the same time as walk to bus stop+wait for bus+bus ride+walk to final destination 😄
