Not to disagree with you, because I found some of the most beautiful moments with just me, the horizon and the birds. But I wanted to add that I was surprised by finding God in the community of others.
I had expected a solo journey, just me and God on an open road. That's how I normally...
Hello all! I apologize if this has been asked and answered, I struggle finding posts on my phone. I think I've read that most gites, etc, have bedding on le puy. Is it necessary to carry a sleeping bag? Planning to do the Cele variant, as well.
Thank you!
Just my opinion, but I loved the sections after Roncevalles with the frosty mornings over the fields, walking along the creekside. It sort of sets the tone for the walk, you are surrounded by your fellow pilgrims and have the chance to make those first encounters who you will meet again and...
Skipping SJPDP to Panplona is skipping over some of the most beautiful countryside, the best food, and the community spirit of starting out as a group. The section coming into Burgos would be a much better stretch to bus over. The messeta that time of year is lovely! It's not a slog in spring :)
I found it more relaxing for me to book a day in advance or even same day, just so I knew I could take my time getting there and they knew I was coming. The places weren't always full, so it wasn't necessarily necessary. But sometimes I'd end up running into tour groups who had booked out whole...
Hi all!
I'm wondering if it's too soon to do a second Camino from Le Puy to SJPDP exactly a year after my first. I did the Camino Frances in April-May 2023.
I had some life things to work through and went on the trip expecting that stuff would come up, which it did, and I worked and walked...
That's what I started doing and I'm in awe everyday at how much I love walking slowly, stopping to listen to the birds, taking breaks at all the points. It was really hard at first to break my habits, but I've found this mindful presense in going slow that I am just smitten with at the moment.
So its funny, but all the signs have little graffiti tags that seem to have statements for exactly where I'm at when I pass them, from "Walk baby" to "Why?" to "The camino gives you what you need, not what you're looking for" to "Who am I really?" to "Present. Here. Now." I feel like I'm going...
Hello! Thanks for checking in. So I've been really practicing mindfulness in my walking, trying to take in the sensory experience and stay in the moment. C Mindfulness is wild! You can completely transcend time and kms for little stretches. I have sent my pack ahead and tried to book more...
Thank you! That is encouraging! I feel like what I've really encountered on the Camino is myself and not the "happy me on vacation" self (which i fully expected), but the real self I live with everyday. I know there will be so much I learn from this experience if I stick with it and make...
Ok, so, after doing some processing, I've realized that I THOUGHT I liked to stop and smell roses, but it turns out in practice I actually don't, I'm very driven to get to the goal and get that sense of accomplishment, but this journey thwarts me because there really isn't a reward at the end of...
Thanks, I'm an introvert too and have had all this uninterrupted time with myself which isn't always good for me. I will take your suggestion and try to approach others. I did this in the beginning and found it such an important lesson that I need other people and others can ease the burden of...
Ugh, yes! It hit me in Logroño! I have taken 2 days in Burgos to have private rooms and do all that you suggested. It felt really nice to do nothing for a day.
