Were you able to make a reservation at L’Esprit du Chemin Hostel? I looked at their website and it indicated they were not open until April. Have you spoke or communicated with them as my e-mail has gone unanswered about whether they would be open or not at this time. This hostel is also my 1st...
If the weather is not great, I am considering taking the Valcarlos route and staying at the new(er) muni hostel, Luzaideko Aterpea Albergue in Valcarlos. The next day the distance to Roncesvalles is only ~14-15 km. I prefer the Napoleon route and staying at the Orisson, but I think I just found...
I am also leaving SJPDP on 3/30. I attempted to make a reservation at the Orisson last week; however I recieved a reply back from them indicating they were not sure they were going to be open at all in March and to call the day prior to inquire whether I can be accomodated.

Thanks for the advice....my nook is going in my backpack. I did also purchase a small waterproof sleeve for it, just in case of inclement weather. I will consider this my 1 luxury item. :)
Has anyone ever used airbnb.com to book a spare/extra bedroom in somebody's house? I just booked a room for a few days in Santiago de Compostela to rest after my camino. Anybody with any feedback on this website (or equivalent)? Good or bad experiences? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
I was considering taking my Nook with me on the camino. Is this a crazy idea? I really love to read (especially before I fall asleep each night) and I thought I could also use the Nook apps for some basic e-mail when there is wireless available. Anyone ever take a Kindle or Nook with them? Would...
I am planning on leaving from St. Jean on 3/28 and I am estimating about 33 days to end up in Santiago. I am excited and nervous all at the same time about this journey. :)
I have done a lot of business travel over the years, but never any kind of travel where I used only "foot power" to get...
