post camino decompression--how to handle it?

the shell
forgive me if my question appears obvious...regarding the shell seen attached to rucksacks etc.is this purchased at the start of the camino,st-jean-pied-de-port,or is the shell just brought from a supermarket and attached. I was wondering if perhaps the shell had to be collected at the start...- garenin7

camino 26th may
new to this forum. Decided to do the camino frances,starting from London may 25th 7am check in,eurocoach to paris,paris by coach to Irun arrive tired 06:30 am inside spain,train back to Bayonne,from bayonne to st jean de pied port,rest a day then start the whole camnio over four weeks or more...- garenin7
