I have read the comment I posted a couple of times and I fail to see the disrespect and insult you mentioned (besides being disrespectfull to bedbugs and I really think they have a thicker skin than that). I do apologize if anyone else sees it that way, because it is not. In fact I extend my...
great camera work indeed, i was also undecided about what camera to bring. I did not want to spend big money on a larger sensor compact camera. So I got this off amazon for $230. Its a panasonic ZS20 p&s and I gotta say it, for your casual birthday party photogragher it's a hell of a camera...
It does not matter if you're staying at the Four Seasons or at the Ave Fenix, to imply that people should get used to bedbugs because "they're becoming part of the pilgrimage scene" is ludicrous! They are indeed disgusting creatures and no one should put up with it; it is 110% their fault, if all...
Hi Falcon, are you currently on the camino? I get to Paris on the 17th and will be starting at SJPDP on the 19th and was a little concerned about closings. Any input will be appreciated.
Hi Tim, as I get ready for my first trip I've realized we start our Camino way before we grab our walking sticks and put our boots on (or shoes :0). You are on your way, stay healty and get well! Im new on this forum but genuinely feel the comradery so rest assure we're all wishing you well.
Did anyone feel unsafe at anytime along the way camping? I'm just a little worried I would wake up and my backpack would be gone; (I can sleep through an earthquake)
Hello Pieces, let me start off by saying that since I have been robbed before at knife point I definitely know how you feel and I am really glad no physical harm came to you. With that being said and forgive me if you find this out of line, but I could clearly replay the scene in my head as I...
Hello LK, a couple of hours later and I'm finished reading your blog. It's amazing how many people from all over the World could relate to your experiences; thanks for blessing us with such a beautiful portrayal of your Camino.
I'm glad I can help; hi-tec makes excellent footwear but you made the right choice by getting a proper size. With hiking boots is always wise to go a 1/2 size up but never a whole one. Keep us up to date!
Manitougirl, I bet your rubber duck will appreciate it!! I kinda like your idea of staring out in SJPP and traveling up to the northern route. I want to fly into Paris and hang out for a day but Iam still not sure where Id go from there (i was not that excited about starting my walk in Irun)...
Thanks for all your insights! I was discouraged about the albergues but apprehensive about carrying the extra weight. Thanks to you guys I'm going shopping for a tent!! I'd love to hear more about your camping experiences , even the bad ones. Regards
Hello, Im also doing the Camino del Norte on Oct/Nov and considering bringing along an ultralight tent to be a little more independent and also to escape the horrors of bedbugs but fleas and dust mites sounds just as bad; what kind of tent did you have, im assuming you slept with it open? Also...
Well, I feel we're subject to follow the rules of the albergue offering us a place to stay, not of the people sharing the same enviroment as us. People get up, rustle around, flashlights on and out of a sudden you feel obligated to follow along...it's my walk, my journey. But Im still going with...
Hello, Im also doing my first Camino taking the northern route in Oct/Nov as well. Here are my thoughts; after checking out forums, articles etc..i was extremelly turned off by the French route, it's overcrowed, littered, touristy and I feel like my camino will be dictated by other pilgrims...
Having no experience yet on the camino I can give you some insight on hiking/trekking in general: it really all comes down to the type of terrain and weather you're going to be walking in, the difference on the Camino is that most people are walking 30 + days straight which is unusual for most...
I am also going on my first trip and the more I researched about it the more I wish I hadn't. Now I find myself making lists and checking things off which is not totally a bad thing but I feel like Im getting too prepared. The one thing Im glad is that by reading forums, articles and etc I...
I would hate to have my mornings dictated by other pilgrims, I feel like if I want to get up at 5:30 I should but I feel like sleeping until 8 I should as well. :|
