Re: IMPORTANT: Advice for pilgrims setting off in March 2013
Thank you so much for these updates. We are not beginning until March 22, 2013. Praying the snow melts by then. We have red rain ponchos. If we put reflective tape on them will that do?
My blog post is http://www.cranecamino.blogspot.com. This forum has been a great help in us preparing for our trip. We are so excited! We leave in 15 days! Buen Camino
I have heard different opinions on tipping in restaurants, taxis etc. in Spain. Does anyone know if tipping is required or expected and the percentage?
Sounds like the best of both worlds. I did make the decision to stay in private accomodations and have my luggage transferred. I really do not see that my experience will be any different either way.
I'm begin the Camino Frances on March 22, 2013. My husband and I are walking together. We are doing the entire route from St. Jean Pied de Port to Santiago. Check out my blog http://www.cranecamino.blogspot.com. I'm not that interesting a writer, but might give some of you good info as we...
I've posted about this previously. I did carry bed bugs home from Europe on one of my trips. Getting rid of them when you didn't know you carried them home is a much bigger problem then worrying about getting bit. It cost me big time to get rid of them. I did read one post here mentioning...
I too are in my initial planning although not going until March 2013. Just to confirm with the earlier post - I have looked through a lot of old posts and most my questions have been answered. The ones that weren't were answered graciously. Love this forum. I hope I can be the help to others...
We are traveling the camino in March as well. Maybe we will see you on the way. We have decided to take the easier route since we are not experienced in hiking at all. Great advice from all though.
Oh thank you all! I feel much better about it. I was reading so many posts and most people were talking of their time in hostels. I will take all this advice into consideration and now more excited then ever. Going the week before Easter next year. march.
I was planning on being in Puente La Reina on 27th March. I'll actually be in Lorgono on Easter Sunday March 31, 2013. It sounds like there are celebrations all week in every little town. Is this so? Is Lorgono too big and not the best place to be celebrating Easter? I certainly have time...
I went to Italy in 2009 and brought home bed bugs. Cost me $2500 by the end of my ordeal to get rid of those suckers! So this time when I walk the camino I don't intend to bring anything home. They will even hide in electronics. I suggest enjoying your walk. If the bites are bothering you...
