walking part of the camino frances and staying in hotels....

I am on the camino at the moment. I have stayed in hotels or pensions every night and have had my bag transported every day. I had the same apprehensions about being judged, but I have not experienced judgement from anyone. I am surprised at the number of people who are staying in private...

Best way to get from Madrid to Leon?

In Leon I stayed at Hotel Q!H. It is next to the cathedral and all rooms have a view of the cathedral. They allowed me to check in at 1030 when I arrived off the train. Great location, lovely rooms

Best way to get from Madrid to Leon?

Flew into Madrid last Friday from Australia. Caught the subway to Puerta de Sol where I stayed at Hotel Alhambra Suites. Caught a taxi to Charmartin station the following morning and took the train to Leon. Very easy to get around. Would recommend taking the train - I enjoyed it

Barcelona to Pamplona... Vuelling cancelled my flight!

Nope, apparently not illegal in Australia. Qantas have changed my flight too, meaning I miss my connecting flights from Perth to Singapore, to Dubai then Madrid!

    Depressed on the Camino

Roger, I'll be walking alone, starting in Leon 19th May. I'll be the slow (unfit) one with the forum badge and kiwi flag on my pack. So don't whiz past me, stop for a chat

St. Jean Pied de Port or Roncesvalles

Thanks Seamus, makes perfect sense. I was planning to ramp up the training a bit during the last 2 weeks but now you've explained it, that would not be a good idea! (Quote was from Sagalout up the page) Thanks, Angela

" you need to stop training at least 2 weeks before you start anyway to gain the best from your training." What do you mean by this? Thx

Leon to Santiago--need advice on getting to Leon

I too, am starting from Leon in May. After 2 nights in Madrid I was planning to catch the 0730 train to Leon but it seems Sunday is the only day it doesn't run at that time. Or could it be that it is booked out already? (Or am I looking in the wrong place?). Can anyone recommend if it is better...

Villar de Mazarife vs Villadangos del Paramo

I have read a lot on this forum about the 'boring slog out of Leon along the senda,' and wonder why more people have not opted for the path via Villar de Mazarife? Is it because of the lack of facilities? Or is it a harder walk? It is more appealing to me so I would appreciate your thoughts /...

    Booking with 1 company?

I am using a luggage transport service as I have a 5 week tour of Europe once I finish the Camino (also I have very dodgy knees). Does using a transport service preclude me from staying in alburges?
