In 2014 I caught a bus from Santiago to Lisbon luxury bus with stop over in Porto for lunch took about 7 hours in total. Booked the bus when I was in Santiago, fairly cheap from memory.
Having done the Camino Portuguese twice for me rest stops would definitely be Porto and many days as you can spare I had 4. Barcelos, Ponte De Lima and Pontevedra are all definite stops for me.
Joanne K, I've used the Portuguese postal service to send my extra travelling cloths to Ivar on both occasions when I walked from Porto without any problems and found the workers at the post office very helpful.
Bom Camino

If you are fit and can do the distance that works out to an average of 34km per day. I'd go for it and if you find yourself running behind you can always get a bus or taxi from one location to another along the way. I've walked with a couple people on the Portuguese Camino who were walking...
Hello Anamya,
I've walked the Camino Portuguese twice and each time caught the metro from Porto to Vilar do Pinheiro. This is just a little closer to Vilarinho than Forum Maia and makes your first day a little easier. Take advantage of the extra rest time because the second day out to Barcelos...
I've walked the Camino from Porto twice now. It is safe, relatively comfortable, only a couple of really hard days. Everyone along the way is friendly and helpful. You will be fine.
Bon Camino.

Hello Andre,
I have posted luggage from Porto to Santiago on both occasions when I walked from Porto to Santiago. You are correct the Post office (Correio) want your luggage boxed. I never had any problem at all and my luggage was there waiting for me. The only thing I would do is send your...
Hello Johan,
I have walked the Portuguese Camino From Port to Santiago twice both times late April into early May. May would be a beautiful time to do the walk as there is less chance of rain. This year upon completing the Camino I caught the Bus From Santiago to Lisbon. This was the simplest...
I'm staying in Porto and Lisbon this April and May. In Porto I'm staying at Hotel Paulista which is in the central a Square and great spot to use as a base to tour around Porto. Stayed there last year. In Lisbon I will be staying in an apartment. My research showed me this was better value than...
Hi Stripey Socks,
I walked the Portuguese Way from Porto last April and will be walking it again this April starting Easter Sunday. My experience was that it was very safe and everyone we met along the way was very friendly and helpful.
My thoughts are that you will be safe and you will most...

I walked from Porto to Santiago in April 2013 and have just booked my tickets to do it again in 2014. My wife and I arrive in Porto on April 15 starting the Camino on the 20th. One of the pleasant memories (and there are many) was all the cyclists we encounter whilst walking. Hope to see many of...
Hi Ane,
As mentioned in a previous post I used the postal service. Simply walked into a post office and they were very helpful. I sent a very large suitcase ( about 80 litres) plus a biggish box I bought from them, from memory the postage cost me 30 euros.
Bon Camino
